Re: Looks like Pantera will sellout MSG tonight!
I'm glad this is doing well for all involved and all that enjoy it but this success just means we'll inevitably get a new album and more tours and that means less Anthrax and less BLS so it sucks for those fans. It's 8 years since the last Anthrax album and at this rate it'll be 9.

Re: David Lee Roth, Cinderella, Extreme Tour 1991
Five bands feels like a long night for a lineup of acts who were in their "just okay" eras. I can see why this tour was the "hard pass" of 1991. In 1988, five bands was the Monsters of Rock US tour. The UK MoR at Donington the same year had six bands. Seems pretty desperate to h...

Re: David Lee Roth, Cinderella, Extreme Tour 1991
These kind of 1991 time capsules are great to look back on. Alice Cooper/Judas Priest/Motorhead/Dangerous Toys/Metal Church is another fun one. Looked so good on paper. 14 year old me thought he had tickets to the biggest tour in the history of music. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why th...

Re: Rock Hall of Fame 2024 nominees announced
Agree w/ above, Foreigner was widely derided as corporate rock when they formed and they only got softer as time went on. BadCo should get in before they do. I don't "hate" Foreigner, I just think the Hall Should be reserved for something a little more..."remarkable." Say, a War...

Re: David Lee Roth, Cinderella, Extreme Tour 1991
Based on my experience, 85-89 was the pinnacle of hair metal. It was the perfect storm of one big party with MTV, teens w/ newly discovered testosterone, spring break, etc.... During this era the pre/early teens were listing to Menudo, Wham/George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, etc..., so by the time the 9...

Re: Rock Hall of Fame 2024 nominees announced
It is laughable anyone cares about this anymore. It's meaningless. Unlike sports Hall of Fame, it doesn't mean they were the best of the best or changed the game. It's like a beauty pageant. I visited the RRHOF once in the 40+ years I've lived in Ohio and was underwhelmed. It isn't like I will get ...

Re: Rock Hall of Fame 2024 nominees announced
*9 Top-10 singles *First four albums at least 5X platinum, the fifth was 3X and the sixth was 1X. That's HOF-worthy in my book. Certainly more than some of the shit bands and acts that are already in. Is sales the only metric? I thought "influence" and "innovation" were two bigg...

Re: Rock Hall of Fame 2024 nominees announced
Is Ozzy solo really HOF worthy? He's no Sade, but I guess some of his music could be considered to be, "rock." Solo Ozzy just seems like a lazy, token "metal" pick. About as deserving as Non-makeup KISS or drug free Aerosmith. I'd say solo Alice is more deserving but I doubt the...

Is there a more generic, bland, and soulless rock band than Foreigner? Also, who would perform if they somehow got in? Is there a more generic, bland, and soulless rock band than Foreigner? Also, who would perform if they somehow got in? (They won't.) I mean, that "Say you will" shit is strictly muzak for grocery stores, but they had some tasty rock on their first three albums.. But HoF-worthy? Other than...

Re: Al Rosa Villa - Columbus, OH anyone?
I haven't been to Newport since the 90s, but I always did like the place. The last show I saw there was Static-X and Powerman 5000. Great show from the 90s era. Saw other bands ranging from Warrant to Rick Springfield. My favorite club/theater is the Bluestone, an old church-turned-club in downtown...

Re: Al Rosa Villa - Columbus, OH anyone?
The Harpos thread made me think of my city's former shithole club, the Al Rosa Villa - infamously where Dimebag was murdered. We used to go there nearly every weekend back in the day. Great club shows tribute bands, cheap pitchers, and a couple of pool tables. The last show I saw there was Winery D...

Queen Rock Montreal IMAX experience.
Pretty fucking awesome. Went last week. I see they added a week. If you listened to the commentary on the DVD from about 15 years ago, you may recall Saul Swimmer had sold the guys on this idea based on it being in IMAX. Only thing was, do you remember IMAX's in 1982? They were like at the Smithsoni...

Re: Does MEGADETH deserve to be in the RNRHOF?
I think both Slayer and Anthrax are more deserving of the RRHOF than Megadeth. Based on what? They were always the "Little 2" of the "Big 4" anyway. With the exception of 1992-1998, Slayer was bigger than Megadeth. Slayer was much more influential on extreme metal, and Anthrax h...

Re: Does MEGADETH deserve to be in the RNRHOF?
Absolutley NO, not enough influence or innovation. They are 4th in the big 4 in both those regards. That said, Mustaine should've absolutely been inducted as a member of Metallica. But Anthrax and Slayer deserve to get in way before Megadeth.

Seriously, Chicago gets Steve Miller instead of Cheap Trick? Bogus. Dude, Steve is from Milwaukee. Closer to Chicago than Rockford. I did not know that. I also didn't know he was even still touring. Oh yeah. I've seen him with Journey and with Gregg Alman. It's one of those shows where you know eve...

If you're going to IHOP and feel like ordering something other than pancakes don't bother. Their omelettes are terrible. Seems like 6 of the 8 on the menu all had shaved beef. Who the hell orders an omelette with shaved beef? Also, the one I ordered had some weird white sauce in it, like a hollanda...

Re: Summer stadium tour thoughts
My thoughts are that by adding Journey there's a totally different audience who will go to this that would call Crue or Poison, "gross". Agreed. Def Leppard have the most cross over success of the 3 bands so this was probably a smart move on their part choosing to tour with Journey. I'm s...

Re: Summer stadium tour thoughts
I'm one of the biggest and staunchest JRNY fans on here but this tour has very little appeal. 3rd time together in 18 years. 3rd time DL have been in the same stadiums in 3 summers. 4th time in 5 years if you want to go back to the last DL/JRNY tour. Decent slate of openers but the reality is they a...

Re: The new farewell tour, this time, from the jungle (SEPULTURA BYE-BYE)
I kinda gave up the "new" Seps in the late 90s. They were pretty much off my radar completely. They were direct support for Testament in 2017 and of course I wanted to check them out and I was stunned at how good they are. I went back in and dug into some of the newer albums on Spotify and...

Indy two nights before was final and 26th show. I saw 4 shows on the "Farewell Tour" and 2 others on this one, but this definitely felt like it was goodbye. Tonight in Baltimore is basically the last regular show as I don't believe there are openers or sound check shows at MSG. FWIW, I bou...

Re: Sludger reviews KISS Knoxville End of the Road show
Serious question : why do you Americans drive such insane distances by car? I see it all the time on show reviews, people driving for eight or twelve hours both ways to go to a show. How much would it be to just fly? Driving it seems insane. Depends on how many are going. If it's just my wife and I...
