Re: Why weren’t the New York Dolls bigger?

The Dolls were fucking great. Great energy, great songs, great attitude. Like the Stooges though, the songs weren't commercial enough to propel them upward. And they were all so fucked up all the time they couldn't be a cohesive unit for very long. Unlike Aerosmith or the Crue, who at least managed...

Re: Let's get real about Randy Rhoads

But the truth of the matter is, Eddie was always a bit of a liar. He always claimed that Clapton was his boy but anyone with an ear can tell that he spent more time listening to Jeff Beck than Clapton. I also call bullshit on Eddie about his claim that he got the idea for two-hand tapping from watc...

Slash has a bald spot, ever seen him without the top hat or cap? There are pix with his thinning hair about but I can't be fucked looking for them... Shit, I was backstage at the Forum Club for an Aerosmith show in 2002, and with overhead lighting, there was not any place you could look at Slash's ...

Re: Anyone who always thought the Scorpions sucked?

I like pretty much every album up to and including Blackout, with the three record run Lovedrive/Animal Magnetism/Blackout being my favorite. Musically, they are just as good as any of the classic metal bands like Priest and Maiden, but persona-and-lyric-wise, they have a certain European English-as...

Re: Let's get real about Randy Rhoads

For what it's worth, I can see merit in both sides of the argument. Randy only had a couple of studio albums and one live album with Ozzy, which were the peak creative years. It's hard to make the call of exactly how near the top of the playing scale he was, but when you hear songs like "Diary...

Yes.

Hurrikane: A loving tribute to early-period Hurricane.

What about the the all-girl Hericane Alice trib?

I'm a little confused about where to go with that one, since their name all ready sounds like their own all-girl tribute :?

Mother Love Bone. Andrew Wood died before their debut came out, leaving us with Pearl jam... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he recorded the record pre-mortem? No, it was more of a Weekend at Bernies thing. No, that was what they did with ARTHUR. http://img.kb-cdn.com/imgviewer/NVpIM2ptOHhYR...

One I like is the PEACE album by the Cult. This would have been the followup to "Love". They basically recorded the songs that became the Electric album, but with their more trippy-psychedelic sound, then decided they wanted to be more current or whatevz and got Rick Rubin to re-record it ...
