Re: What bands did your parents approve of?

Not sure which bands my dad would've approved of, as I was quite young when he died. With my mom......let's just say that if it had an explicit lyrics sticker on it, she didn't approve.

I'm a circulation attendant at a public library. Among other things, that means that if you want to get a library card or pay fines on your account, I'm one of the staff members to talk to.

Re: Solar Eclipse mania.

Let's put it this way - I'd love to have a dollar for every library customer who's come up to the service desk and asked "Do you guys have any free solar-eclipse viewing glasses?" Only a few branches in my library system received those, the particular branch I work at was NOT one of them, ...

"Sorry, but our computer system won't allow me to do that."

Said this to a library customer the other day when he wanted to me to override the library's computer reservation system for him. (He'd already used the max amount of time allowed per day)

Re: Exes and break-ups

Never date in the workplace. You can't really say never. Maybe the better thing to say is don't casually fuck a coworker. Yes, that will usually get messy. But sometimes a job is more expendable than a relationship. I can see what you're saying with that, but I know that for me, the only way I'd co...

Re: I don't think "Time for Change" is that bad

I remember this being the song my 8th grade class chose to sing for our graduation ceremony. Although our teachers and/or the principal objected to the "old tired fools" bit, so we ended up singing "On and On" by Trixter.

One of my former library co-workers would spend the last 10 or so minutes of her lunch/dinner break in the staff bathroom, brushing her teeth and talking to herself.

My suggestion would be to write down questions which you're anticipating the interviewer might ask, and write down (or at least think about) your responses to those questions.

Re: Regrets

I may regret some of the choices I've made in life, but it still rings true that I wouldn't be where I am without those decisions and I wouldn't change it and I refuse to let those wrong turns and choices haunt my life and refuse to guilt myself into a hole.. That's a bit how I try to view things.....
