Re: Is KK sinking all his money into KK's priest?
Music for Priest fans who think Painkiller is their best album. That’s who the real Priest is catering for as well. Not at all. If you listen to the new album the best part of it is the diversity. There’s absolutely elements of Painkiller, but also elements of Turbo/Ram It Down, the reunion era, th...

They are great at playing Priest material. Their originals are generic, paint by numbers metal crap. Music for Priest fans who think Painkiller is their best album.parasite74 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 8:37 am KK Priest is a much better band than Judas Priest is at this point. Both live and on record.

Funny how it’s never successful artists, who wrote and performed great originals, who have these gripes. Always a D-lister who’s jealous the cover band draws 5x the crowd and $ he does. Here’s an idea… be better, or accept your lot in life.

Great choice! I also agree with you on people simply naming singles/videos.Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 10:21 pm Dogman is the best album and "Pretend" is a great song. If you've only heard "It's Love", and "Over My Head", you aren't familiar with King's X.

Re: How "at capacity" do venues need to be at to make $$$?
A lot of the answer has to do with if it’s a corporately (often Live Nation) owned venue, or a privately held club. In the case of a Live Nation owned venue, they are the promoter, the ticket seller, and a venue. So even though there’s overhead/staffing/etc. to pay for the venue, they are paying the...

That’s what a man in his 70’s singing heavy metal sounds like. I don’t find it all that bad, and friends there said it was great.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 6:14 am Fucking horrible.

Re: JUDAS PRIEST: Streaming new album
An absolutely amazing release for any band, let alone a veteran band. Heavy moments, melodic moments… a very diverse record; well played and produced, with Halford in fine voice (admittedly with “help” I’m sure). Fans from every era can enjoy this record. 8.5/10 PS - blows KK’s Priest away. THAT was...

Worst Crüe album. Total botched comeback attempt. Instead of giving old fans the nostalgia they wanted they tried to be modern and failed epically. Give me New Tattoo or SOLA any day.

It’s a 8/10 for me. Thinking man’s metal. Bruce challenges the listener… it’s not paint by numbers metal (a la KK or Accept). It takes several listens to take everything in, establish favourites - and those favourites will evolve. It’s nowhere near Accident of Birth or The Chemical Wedding, but it’s...

I was at Ray Gillen’s third show with Black Sabbath. Pre-internet days, and nobody knew Glenn Hughes was out, nor who the new guy was. It took a review in the local paper, two days later, to provide the story… and the mystery singer’s name.

Motley Crue "retirement contract" This is my favourite, as every now and then, here on Sludge, or on social media, you get people referring to it as if it was real/legal/binding, and using it as the basis of their argument. Truly the gift that keeps giving in being able to point out human...

I really wanted to like this. It’s a huge disappointment. You’d think, given his age and experience he’d do something retro. Instead we get modern rock garbage, with horrible Emo vocals, a la Brides Of Destruction and Sixx AM.

Nice to see the love and respect for an excellent, honest, hard working band. RIP to classic era Helix drummer Greg “Fritz” Hinz. You guys might remember him as the blond-haired, half clothed, wild man drummer in their videos and at their shows. He was with the band, on and off, for 40 years and played on all their classic era records. A great drummer and even better person, ...

It’s a great record… OK, a good one. Bold for them, and appropriate for the times. The only people I know who don’t like it are the heavier/faster true metal meatheads whom feel threatened by anything melodic and argue that Painkiller is the best metal record of all time.

Complete and utter generic, assembly line shit, written by the Frontiers in-house writing team. Devoid of any soul. Could have been performed by any “super-group” they decided to form that week.

As many have said, not unexpected but very sad. Addiction sucks, and can turn a person who has “everything” into a person who has nothing in short order.

Shocked Great White weren’t mentioned. Pre-fire, in the mid-80’s, they and Dokken were the go to opening acts if you wanted to bring in some extra fans and appeal to the hair metal crowd. Off the top of my head I remember them opening big tours for Priest, Whitesnake, Scorpions, and Alice Cooper. Ci...

I was in Vegas this past Fall. Saw the residency on a Wednesday and liked it so much I went back Friday. Great venue for them, they do hits, newer songs, and deep cuts, and switch out between 3-5 songs every show. Best shows I saw this year.

KK’s band is cringeworthy. Metal for meatheads, who only think a band is good if every song is fast and heavy. Totally generic crap. They sound like they can be 100 other bands musically, and Ripper oversings everything. At least Priest has some variety and nuance… the two songs released from the up...

Basically Spinal Tap, but not funny on purpose.
Wanna drive a Manowar fan crazy? Compare them to Poison… which I often do. If you call Poison poseurs for their lipstick and makeup, you similarly need to call Manowar poseurs for their schtick. Both image driven, middling bands.
