Re: Boz Scaggs songs. Overrated, or Underrated ?
Jojo sounds absolutely pristine! Hellz yes, it does. So do "Lowdown", "Lido Shuffle", "What Can I Say", "Georgia", "Simone", "Look What You've Done to Me", etc. Though I wouldn't say Boz Scaggs was ever underrated. A highly rated yacht roc...

Just thought of two more: "Body Talk" and "Loco-Emotion" from Kix's Cool Kids album. Could those two songs have possibly been the first ever examples of disco hair/glam metal?

Re: AC/DC’s “Blow Up Your Video” - my review
Fairly average apart from the two singles. "Heatseeker" is quite good, IMO, and "That's the Way I Wanna Rock N' Roll" is a decent followup, I guess. The rest just sounds like AC/DC on autopilot. They would rebound with The Razors Edge.

I will say in regards to the OP: that is a pretty solid run of AC/DC albums.

You got RTB and Presto backward, but that's a good four album run. Really, you could pick any four Rush albums in a row and have a winner.skeptic555 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 2:57 pm Power Windows

I stand by it.
I'd also go with Zep's s/t through Zep IV and Aero's s/t through Rocks.

Probably because "Love Rollercoaster" is a cover of an actual disco song by The Ohio Players. Do covers qualify for this thread?

Anyone here remember this one? Solid enough keyboard hair metal song that got a small amount of HBB airplay with Gina Gershon in the video. I like it (apparently said video with Gina isn't posted anywhere on YouTube, so here's a Russian link): https://ok.ru/video/38358616773 And while we're at it, a...

This one is kind of debatable as to whether or not it counts, though, since there’s a whole keyboard solo just before it.

Wasn’t she married to Brian Wheat of Tesla once? “Love Has Taken Its Toll” is a solid enough tune that managed to crack the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after it came out. The whole debut album has some other great songs as well like “Gypsy Child” and “Back to the Bullet”. Good stuff.

Nah, I'd say "Something to Believe In" was their last big peak. "Ride the Wind" was just a slight drop, but still a drop nonetheless. Then the real downhill slide began with "Life Goes On". To clarify what I meant ... "Ride the Wind" was the very last moment ...

Re: Super-short guitar solos that are perfect for the song ...
Pop ballads and AOR ballads (and even a few hair ballads) are notorious for these: Sweet Sensation's "If Wishes Came True", REO's "Keep on Loving You" and "Can't Fight This Feeling", Firehouse's "Love of a Lifetime", "When I See You Smile", etc.
