What revelations are you still waiting for?

For example: Sixx didn't play bass on the first Motley albums. Mick Mars was actually born in the 40s.

What else?

Re: Lion - Dangerous Attraction appreciation thread

The lead singers (soulless) Euro-Metal vocal style is beyond annoying, and the reason why I could not get into Lion. Funny, I've seen this mentioned several times over the years. I always felt like Kal Swan was a breath of fresh air when everyone was trying to be a high pitched screamer. Not annoyi...

These guys were definitely Z-listers, but this is what 80s metal should sound like. Some mindblowing guitar solos by Aldrich on this one.

However, had Brandon been an instrumental track, that Crüe album would probably be held in higher esteem by the fans!

Always hated that song. GN'R couldn't write a simple straightforward rocker anymore after Appetite.

You lyrics lovers explain something to me

How do bad lyrics make a song less good? I never understood this. Yes, there are some dumb lyrics out there. I give zero shits about it. I listen to the music and don't care much for the words. Most of the time I'm not even paying attention to them. It's rock music. This genre started with "1-2...

Re: Do you like Sammy solo?

I LOVE Montrose. Sammy solo, not as much, very commercial. But hey, ya gotta pay the bills, right? Interesting fact: 'Leaving The Warmth of the Womb' from 'Marching to Mars' is the original Montrose line up (Sammy Hagar, Bill Church, Denny Carmassi, Ronnie Montrose) Sammy Hagar - Leaving The Warmth...

Since everyone mentions Tribute, I'm gonna throw in Speak of the Devil. The amount of energy on that album is amazing. Seems as if Ozzy snorted a few bags of coke.

Ultimate Sin is a brilliant album

The older I get, the more I dig this album. It's not as good as Diary, but almost on par with Blizzard. Jake E. Lee shines all over this album. Dude was leagues ahead of Zakk. Ozzy's vocal melodies are very catchy. Maybe one or two duds but a whole lot better than the albums that came after. Yes, ev...

Re: Realistically, how much longer does GN'R have? OR ANY OF THESE BANDS??

I've long given up on most of these bands. At this point some unreleased tracks from back in the day would probably be better than anything most of these bands can come up with nowadays.

I always considered him to be very average. I can't think of any solo that stands out, though there are a few cool riffs (The House Is Rockin').

Phenomena - any fans?

Studio project by Mel Galley's brother Tom. They had some amazing musicians on those albums. Glenn Hughes handled the vocals on the first album. Second one had a bunch of guest singers like Ray Gillen, John Wetton. Third album was pretty much 21 Guns with a different singer. No really brilliant albu...

Do you want another Ozzy studio album?

Supposedly he's working on one. Last record had a bunch of good songs so I'd be excited to hear new stuff. If it means autotuning the shit out of it to get a decent vocal out of him, so be it.

As many said, hard to get into new acts... funny enough its easier to enjoy non-metal newbies these days. Anyway, the trick is to discover or re-discover older bands... For the past 5 years or so I've been digging' into the discographies of bands I had quite a superficial knowledge of (maybe owning...

Re: Falling out of love with music?

I have done very little music listening over the past months. Plenty of records out there I haven't heard yet, but I feel like it's all the same. I've tried exploring other genres but that didn't last too long.

I'm going through his discography and I wasn't aware he wrote for so many pop artists. He was hardly limited to rock. He had a hand in most of the songs on the Giant debut. I really love that album so he has my respect for that. Anyway, I'll be giving this a spin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=app...

The peak of hair metal gloss. It was their Crazy Nights. (And Crazy World was their Hot in the Shade. A whole lot of meh with a big hit power ballad to save it.) Crazy World was even worse than SA. I got off the train there. I just couldn't see eye to eye with the band anymore. Wiki states the foll...

Stet Howland

What's up with him not playing on a lot of WASP albums? He had a long tenure in the band, but Blackie always seemed to go back to Frankie Banali for recording. Couldn't Stet cut it in the studio or what?
