Re: Alice Cooper is playing high school gyms now?

Go look for Wheeling on a map and you would know drawing anyone there at all would be considered a success. It was the third largest city in West Virginia but, like many river cities in the rust belt, has been steadily declining for decades. It's now actually close to being designated a village and...

Re: Kiss - "Forever"

He’s talking about the 1999 song from the Detroit Rock City soundtrack you KISStardio. I'd never heard it before today. Completely not surprised it's a Diane Warren special, I can hear Steven Tyler singing it instead of Paul. Forever kicks the shit out of that song. It was a definite deliberate att...

Re: Kiss - "Forever"

I wonder what they'd have become in the 80s and 90s if they weren't trend chasers but simply a balls-out rock band a la GnR. I thought some of Revenger felt that way, but certainly not all of it. And as a previous poster mentioned, it did seem to begin with Dynasty with the pseudo-disco influence, ...

Re: Alice Cooper is playing high school gyms now?

That’s quite a few empty seats. Last couple of times I’ve seen him (in a theater venue) the bottom/floor was crowded but the upper balcony was completely empty Alice hasn't really consistently sold out any size venue since Billion Dollar Babies and is generally a mid-size venue with plenty of seats...

Re: Def Leppard, Journey & Steve Miller tour

When I saw the initial ads, I thought it was going to be Journey, Def Leppard, Steve Miller, Heart and Cheap Trick each night . Damn, that's a boomer festival that will sell out everywhere. Can't miss. When I saw that it was the 178th co-headline of DL & Journey w/ one of those 3 in each city, I...

Meh. It's a 6,000 seater. Elton John, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Pantera, and KISS have all headlined there.

Re: Planet of the Apes

I enjoyed the latest installment in the PotA saga. It was a bit of a slow burn but there was action throughout and the narrative felt like it had some parallels to both Beneath the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Subtle homages for us longtime ape fans. It’s hard to say tha...

Re: AC/DC live in Gelsenkirchen right now

Not as bad as I was expecting, but I certainly wouldn't pay any money to see it live. Not that they need my business looking at the size of that crowd! I haven't seen AC/DC since 2001 or so. I can't remember what happened with the Black Ice tour but I remember just not being interested in Axl in '1...

Re: AC/DC live in Gelsenkirchen right now

Why would you want to see such a previously virile and potent band full of wild feral energy reduced to this? Seriously. They sound like absolute dogshit, the stage is boring, corporate, dated, the setlist is utterly predictable, ticket prices are insane, what's left of the band are reduced to a sh...

Re: AC/DC live in Gelsenkirchen right now

Hard to complain about a 24 song setlist, but DAMN, could we have some deep cuts? Like, would it kill them to play Big Gun, Flick of The Switch, or That's the Way I Want to Rock and Roll? At least when Axl was singing for them, we would get random Bon Scott stuff like Touch Too Much or Problem Chil...

Re: Heart is headlining arenas????

this is an AEG tour I don't know anything about this....so, does this mean they can't play in Live Nation run places. I can't imaging a band on Hearts level could avoid that. Live Nation and AEG rent each other's venues. AEG probably doesn't own most of the venues this tour is playing. Arenas are a...

Re: How much on average do you pay at a concert venue?

My wife and I enjoy shows as much as the next couple but we've pretty much stopped going. It's triple digits to get nosebleeds in the arenas and lawn in the sheds anymore. We'll look around for decent deals but go to far less shows than we used to. We do more musicals and movies these days.

Re: Heart is headlining arenas????

A lot of these Heart shows are being tapped off big time. I could see the band doing smaller arenas in B markets, but truly, they are a theater band at this juncture. For the life of me I don't get putting this package at MSG and the Crypt. Zero sense there. This is a tour for The Greek Theatre and...

Re: Heart is headlining arenas????

Do people not understand how this works yet? Live Nation books a tour into mostly venues they own/operate. They serve as promoter, ticket seller (as they own Ticketmaster), and venue. They make good money off the die hards who buy overpriced good seats early. Then, they play with pricing and paper ...

Eric Singer had a career before KISS. To a lesser extent, Bruce did, too and Bruce had some success after KISS. Did Bruce really have a "career" or "success" though? I mean, the same way a guy who delivers Papa John's winds up managing Domino's maybe. Bruce had more succes...

Completely by accident, I wound up discovering that Belize is a great place for expat retirees. A modest retirement income will have you living like royalty as it stands right now. Seriously considering it but it will depend upon where my kids are at that point in life.

Yeah the NFL is rapidly approaching that point. People are eventually going to chuck it in and realize that it's not worth paying for 10 different services to see all your favorite team's games. Yet, we keep saying that BUT the contracts for the rights just get to new record heights and the audienc...

I haven't priced anything out in a while. Life Of Agony's Ugly is rare. So is Anthrax's Stomp 442 but demand is the key. It may be one of the pressings of Thonic Boom . To be clear, if all you want is a copy of Stomp 442 on Vinyl, it's not expensive since Megaforce reissued it 3 years ago. But yeah...
