Re: shitty Louisville hair metal festival w/ Queensryche, Great White, Slaughter, LAG

It seems whoever booked Great White and Quiet Riot to play an arena in Anaheim isn't the only dumbass out there... https://www.stadiumrock80s.com/details https://bravewords.com/medias-static/images/news/2024/srmf524.jpeg 2 days in a 15K-cap arena. Yikes. (I do like their "biggest '80s weekend ...

Compare that 1986 KISS or even 1986 Ozzy. VH did a great job of blending in to whatever was going on all the way to 1996.

Re: SKID ROW: Oslo Spectrum Norway 1991

I saw these guys in early 1995. SHR was in the can and about to come out but the set was still very heavily tilted to Slave era tunes. They had an aura about them. Neither Baz solo now Skids sans Baz were ever able to replicate it. I don't think 60 year versions of them could replicate it either. So...

Re: Any insider info re: Pantera headline dates this year?

Supposedly they’ll play the Forum in LA in October Just following from afar (I check tour dates and what not on the socials as I scroll through newspapers and such) it seems like Pantera have left a lot of big ass markets on the table so far. With the way this thing is selling, that seems like a sh...

When your Chief Songwriter/Bandleader/Art Director etc. is more interested in playing pretend Vinnie Paul, you may have a problem getting albums out.

Re: The Anthrax soap opera continues...

Professional musician plays music for money. Where's the soap exactly? I think the drama is that Frank is not currently touring with them due to some personal reason but is going out on tour with some other band. This would carry some weight, except that Anthrax isn't booked for summer festivals th...

I'd be willing to bet a live album is in the can and then the label will convince them it's time for a studio effort. New Anthrax in 2026 with 13 co-headlining 11 song shows. Charlie has quit his own band.

Re: Alice Cooper is playing high school gyms now?

Yeah, I like the Coop but let’s be honest he’s never had a great album. Even Nightmare and the OG band albums like School’s Out have a load of shit on them. Great stagecraft, great gimmick, good bands over the years, I respect the hell out of the guy for shaking it up every tour and bringing back s...

Re: AC/DC’s “Who Made Who” soundtrack album - my review

Most of those 5 mil were after their 1990 Razors Edge comeback though. It was only Platinum until that very year. Still better than the previous stuudio albums that only went platinum with the remasters 2001. AC/DC were tanking almost as badly with Flick - Fly - Blow Up as Kiss were with Unmasked -...

Re: AC/DC’s “Blow Up Your Video” - my review

Fly is their 3rd best Brian release. Flick is close 4th. After that it was the Crue formula. 1 good song per album. I'd give them 2-3 strongish songs. They were always the singles/&/or the lead off tracks, side closers or side openers. Meaning, they definitely knew which songs were filler gibbe...

Re: AC/DC’s “Blow Up Your Video” - my review

I never understood all the love for Fly on here. I felt Video and Razor’s were big improvements over Fly and Flick. Shit like Sink The Pink was lame. Flick is just flaccid. I’ll take Heatseeker anytime I've not seen much love for Fly. Switch is the MC94 of the catalog here on Sludge. Indeed. But I ...

I really enjoy this album! I like every track on here except This Means War and That's the Way I Wanna Rock n Roll. Two's Up is awesome and there's a lot of mid-tempo numbers that just seems to groove nicely. I'd give it 8/10. I never understood all the love for Fly on here. I felt Video and Razor’...

I don't hate this era as much as some. I guess it depends on the memories associated with it or whatever. Had I stumbled upon Priest several years earlier this may have been more of a disapointment but this was my first exposure to "new" (at the time) Priest.

Pretty bold move of Alice to start the show with a very deep cut from Raise Your Fist, he's good at throwing the long-term fans a bone. I've seen him a few times and there's always been a cool rarity in the set like Pain or Clones, it's always worth going to see him. Be a sad day when Alice isn't o...

Re: AC/DC’s “Who Made Who” soundtrack album - my review

You have to remember that Flick of the Switch and Fly on the Wall were considered duds (compared to BiB and to a lesser degree FTATRWSY) and AC/DC were just coasting on fumes. Oh, I remember. That's what makes the 5 million in sales such a shock. Most of those 5 mil were after their 1990 Razors Edg...

Yeah looked it up and saw it sold 5 million. Wow. The title track got a lot of airplay but the genius move was re-releasing "You Shook Me All Night Long" as single and video. The initial release of that as a video was about a year before the MTV launch, and the new and improved video beca...

Re: AC/DC’s “Blow Up Your Video” - my review

They were in a post Back in Black rut, basically ever since BiB but this one kinda epitomizes the whole formula. Strong lead off single. A couple of other decent singles. Absolute filler the rest of the way. Not really garbage like KISS filler but nothing memorable at all. Very much like 80s Ramone...
