Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Nice to see the niners make a statement against the bears after struggling against st. louis last week! It's obvious that Cutler being out was a bigger blow to the bears than Smith being out was to the niners, but I don't think many were expecting the bears defense to be overpowered like they were....

OK, so now that 49ers-Lions has ended without coach handshake drama, can we drop this storyline? Or are Backslap Bowls III and IV on the way? Gotta love sports media trying to make a non-rivalry seem like something more, huh? All they had to run with was that ignorant handshake shit, and they beat ...

Chris. Berman. Bad. Dilfer sounded DUMB. That's seriously the worst 'professional' broadcast ever televised. Dilfer is really good. The problem is Berman. He ruins the booth with his presence. You could add Al Michaels or Bob Costas to the booth along with Berman and Berman will make those two lege...

The defense looked great! That was a hell of a trial by fire for the Niners, and they looked pretty damn good. Pretty excited about the rest of the season!crabfan wrote:Huge statement game for the Niners going to GB and making it look easy for most of the game. Should be a big year in SF. Go Niners!

Haven't they been talking about Strausberg's innings pitched limit for quite some time now? I thought Nationals leadership has said all along the were gonna shut him down after a certain number of innings pitched regardless of where they were in the standings. Everyone knew this was gonna happen.

I Come In Peace/Dark Angel - 6/10 Watched this one as a kid, but didn't remember much of it. Pretty standard 80's/early 90's action sci-fi fare, but they did try to do a few interesting things with it, such as making the bad guy an intergalactic drug dealer. In the end, it wasn't good enough to be a...

Re: Enough of the Feel-Good One Day Retirement Contract
I just can't understand why this would bug people - at least not when it is limited to HoF type players and team leaders. The reality in modern pro sports is that most stars that are identified with one team won't actually finish up with that team, so this is a nice way to reaffirm that connection ...

The Lady in Black - 7/10 Radcliffe did alright, but his character wasn't terribly interesting, so I can't really say that it was a breakout performance or anything. Pretty good, old school ghost flick. The movie gets off to a slow start, but once it gets going it's pretty good. Not very gory, but th...

So I've been hearing stuff about how Donovan McNabb feels like he's HOF worthy. Obviously, the big hurdle to that is the fact that he's never won the Super Bowl. People will mention Marino and Fouts when that comes up, but I think both those guys were a big step up from McNabb. To get in the HOF wi...

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
I guess the safe money's on Peyton Manning going to the Titans, but it'd be pretty sweet if the niners ended up with him. They've got all their starters on defense returning, and signed Randy Moss. Offensive issues (mainly lack of a passing game) kept them out of the Super Bowl last year, so at the ...

He better not be. That shit was infuriating. The offense was playing weak enough, they damn well didn't need any help from some jackass who can't hold onto a damn football returning punts.Luminiferous wrote:Anyone think Williams will still be a 49er next season?

I hate Joe Buck's smug, contrived 'excitement' so much. "AND THEY GET THE STOP!" Fuck off. Don't really enjoy Buck and Aikman's commentary either. I remember watching the 49ers/Cowboys game early this season, and all they could do was swing from Romo's nuts, even in the first half when th...

Re: Troy Smith starting for 49ers at QB this weekend
It's sad when my favorite football team is so shitty that I don't even really care that the 3rd stringer is playing. While I usually don't give head coaches as much credit for the success or failure of a team as many do, I have to say that the playcalling for the 49ers this season has been pretty at...
