Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Watched Liverpool thrash Arsenal yesterday. Again, Henderson continues to impress. United would kill to have a player of his calibre, but apparently Sir Whiskeynose thought that he 'ran from the knees'. Still, there's always Tom Cleverley.

I've seen enough from Man United to convince me they'll steer clear of relegation this season.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Did anyone see Bournemouth make Liverpool look very ordinary yesterday? Two goals on the break sent Liverpool through, but Bournemouth were with the ball, showed more attacking intent and were denied an obvious penalty. If I were a. Liverpool fan I'd be worried, either at how ordinary we looked or a...

Spurs should turn to the best England manager of the last 20 years - Glenn Hoddle. Not a joke by the way, I genuinely believe this.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Despite a lacklustre draw with Blackburn for my beloved QPR, I managed a good 'lol' this weekend at both the Chelsea and Man Utd results. Mourinho seems a shadow of his former self. Gone is the bullish, antagonistic individual who would stir up controversy to take the flak off his players; now he bl...

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

It's looking like a keen premiership this season, though I still think Man City have too much firepower. They're going to be the least affected by injury during the hard winter months. Did anyone see them destroy an admittedly poor Norwich team yesterday?

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

City are not much better than United, spent more money, but no outcry in the media on their woes. In fairness, Hart's clownish impressions of an international-standard keeper have been getting attention but you've got a point. I think it's a case of schadenfreude as United have been top of the tree...

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Moyes needs a season; Man Utd are so attuned to Sir Whiskeynose's style that I genuinely believe it's a case akin to turning an oil tanker around. That said, it is the same team, more or less, that romped the Premier League and Moyes has made a couple of missteps: a) Purging the backroom staff to br...

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Andy Johnson didn't leave, and alongside BAE we picked up Tom Carroll and Niko Krancjar. I've always rated NK, as has Arry seeing that it's the third time he's signed him. Krancjar is the Depp to Redknapp's Burton. For a while I thought we only had one confirmed signing on transfer day but 'Arry kne...

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*

Happy that we've captured Matt Phillips and, especially, Benoit Assou-Ekotto - a few Prem clubs seemed to have missed a trick there. Not happy that Palace are in for Andy Johnson, we need him. Palace are signing shit loads of players, most of them pretty average. Would've been funny if they ended up...

Re: Pauls have courted the racist wing of the GOP

Interesting response, Sheep Mafia. To me, this also speaks about the tenor of politics in our respective nations. If an aide or advisor to one of our top politicians was found to espouse similar views to Hunter, that aide would almost certainly find themselves collecting unemployment pretty damn qui...

Re: Pauls have courted the racist wing of the GOP

Great article. I am curious - Rand Paul is a big enough politico to have a national (and to those who pay attention, international) profile. Would not such a figure wish to surround himself with the brightest and the best? This Hunter chap is surely neither - he's a dog-whistle racist and a cur of t...

Monggolio, why is it that nobody agrees with you? Have you stopped to consider that? And please, don't trot out the old 'confederacy of dunces' line.

You use ideology as a proxy for critical enquiry - the true mark of an imbecile.

It's no use. You are a stupid, arrogant man-child. A whole lecture theatre of Nobel laureates could not persuade you to reconsider the ridiculous, dogmatic and contrarian stance you've opted to defend. You don't listen to reason, never stop to reconsider your opinions when presented with information...

Hyperinflation? Like what happened in post-war Hungary, pre-Rentenmark Germany and modern-day Zimbabwe? The value of Gold is STILL over 500% higher than it was 10 or so years ago... Did you invest in gold 10 years ago? Superb question. Fuck off with that equivocating DRJ - so just because a topic isn't strictly within bounds of material covered by the debate, it shouldn't be addressed at all? I don't disagree with you often, but on this occasion I think you're attempting to defend the indefensible.

Lies, unless you're a pre-op transsexual. No Rush fan has come close to a vagina, unless it subsequently involved a swift trip to the magistrates' court.

The Florida State/Atlanta Braves Indian chant. Ha ha! Are you talking about the 'Tomahawk Chop'? If so, that racist shit is lame. Of course, the correct answer is 'all of them'. Come to an English soccer match to hear it done properly. Attend the right game and you may even hear a successful French...

Turn off the TV then you stupid twat. I went crazy, turned blue and almost had an aneurysm watching Mo Farah in the 5000m. What a race, what a competitor, what a champion. When he hit the front he just would not let anyone pass. Bolt's amazing, but his events lack the drama of the 1500m, 5000m and 1...

Olympics

Off to see men's football and boxing this weekend. Anyone going to be following London 2012? I shall be glued to the TV for a fortnight, though not using as much glue as last time as Blanka Vlasic is not competing.
