Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

I think Pedro retires. The Mets are all about Perez it seems. Here's another Tex update. With as many as five teams showing interest in the first baseman, there is serious doubt the Red Sox would go longer than the eight-year contract the Los Angeles Angels, Teixeira's former team, have offered. &qu...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

I'm not sure either. For all Yankee fans who want nothing to with Manny, tell me that in October. I hope to God someone, fucking anyone would make people turn their fucking hat brims straight. That and take off the fucking size sticker everyone is doing now. Baby steps first I know. We can all have ...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Pictures of Sabathia visiting new Yankee Stadium. http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2008/12/sabathia_visits_new_yankee_sta.html Those were pretty cool. I'm looking forward to more Sabbathia/Beckett duels, now that he's a Yank it will be so much better. Here's a Lowe update from Rosenthal. The Phi...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

I'd like to add here that if Ramirez signs with New York, baseball should be shut down. This is fucking bullshit to the 10th power. [/color] Boo hoo. And I'm sure Boston will overpay for Teixeira in response to the Yankees' spending spree. Whichever teams gives teixeira a 10 yr deal is overpaying! ...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

The guy has contemplated retirement the past two offseasons, is coming off a mediocre year.. that rumor of 3/$36M deal is bullshit probably being put out there by his people to make the Yankees up their one-year offer. $10M is more than reasonable for a guy who had the full support of his team last...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Tex is a great player and would make any line-up better. OTOH he's a notoriously slow starter, highly overpriced, and looking at his hit charts. I'm not sure how many homers to left wouldn't just be doubles off the Monster. Or deep drives to right being turned into outs. He has a career OPS of .919...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Most Yankee fans want nothing to do with Manny. I guess if you could have the production without the bullshit, maybe. Otherwise NY has had enough 1B-DH-OF types, without adding another one for $25M. And if the Red Sox get Teixeira, it's simply to keep him away from NY. They have no need for him wha...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

It's interesting that's for sure. It's been reported in Rotoworld that Burnett was heavily recruited by Traitor and Arod. That's where he took Boston of his "potential destinations" list. That and an overpaid 5 year contract couldn't hurt either. It's going around that the Mighty Red Sox h...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Sorry, been away for a bit. There is a lot to discuss which I will chime in on shortly. Numero uno. I fucking hate the "hanging Sox" new logo. I understand the change from a logistical perspective, for marketing purposes it's pure genius. Sell it to "Red Sox Nation", etc. From a ...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

The Tex seepstakes seems to be what it all hinges on. Apparently the MFY intrest in Ben Sheets has went up a notch. Which says to me that they're not waiting for Sabbathia and aren't confident they'll end up with Burnett. This is from Stark a few days ago: There's increasing buzz about the Yankees' ...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

It's all over everywhere now. Greg Maddux is officially retiring Monday.

This is truly the end of an era. Maddux was one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Pedro, Maddux, Clemens, Johnson......

Waiting for the next generation of all-time greats.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

They're ( by "they're" I mean the sports shows ) saying now that Pettitte has been talking to Torre about coming to LA. Imagine. Moose is retired, Pettitte goes to LA, Sabbathia goes somewhere else. Wow just what that would do. I don't think NY is to in the Teix sweepstakes. He want's a 1...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Only thing I know is that supposably the Mighty Red Sox made an offer to Teixera ( now what with Lowell? ), they're are supposably going to go neck and neck in the bidding for Burnett, WEEI reports they offered Tek a 1 year deal....Boras denies it, Tazawa is most likely to sign in Boston, and Matsuz...

Also the MFY re-signed Demaso Marte to a three year deal today. I don't understand this one. They gave him a 3 year deal? With the unpredictability of middle relief, especially one that's 33 it seems risky to me. Especially if they would of let him walk they would've gotten two draft picks, since he...

Kick ass dude! Hughes is in the AFL, I know they want him to work on his mechanics which they've tweaked quite a bit. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him make the transition to Winter Ball also. So far he's been doing pretty well. This is his line from 11/4: 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 8 st...

It's interesting for sure. I don't think there is anyway in hell Lowe ends up in NY. There is a huge question mark for them this upcoming season. You still have to watch Joba's innings, is he a starter or BP guy? While Hughes is doing pretty good in Winter Ball, there is still a transitional period ...

The MFY declined options on Pavano and HGHiambi. Pettite say's he wants to return to NY, but filed for Free Agency. If he wins the MVP I'm going to laugh really fucking hard. That's an extremely formidable line-up and puts Philly in the position to be competitive for a while. The projections for 2009 come out mid-month. Philly would be in GREAT shape if they could grab Holliday for prospects and lock him up for a few years. A core of Utley/Howard/Rollins/Holliday... holy shit. I knew lots of team's are wanting Holliday. That lineup right there is terrifying. Oh yeah, Pedroia won a Gold Glove! Next it should be MVP.
