Re: Is the groupie scene dying?

You go to rock groupie or groupie central and hardly anyone is there posting. A lot of the guys in bands who were groupie friendly are now in their 40s and are married. Another thing, not mentioned previously, is that many of the gals who used to post now post only on private boards and/or private ...

Re: Is the groupie scene dying?

The groupie scene is not dying; people are just being more discreet for a variety of reasons. Many of the girls who used to talk A LOT wound up getting ostracized by bands for "kissing and telling", a bunch of girls were found out to be lying, etc. As a result, the tattling has gone down, ...

Re: Arizona = FUN!

Interestingly enough, in my area, the issue is more pointed due to the Islamic communities here; I find it very interesting that they were teaching 4th grade children about the American internment camps during WWII, but did not mention Hitler, nor the Holocaust. And the original "melting pot&qu...

Re: Anybody want some right-wing reading material?

I am going to a club (all ages co-op style) that has a book case full of mostly left wing reading material. I am going to sneak my Ted Nugent book in there. "Mission Accomplished" That pretty much rules. You know I'm liberal as all Hell, and find Uncle Ted rather terrifying, but the book ...

Re: Anybody want some right-wing reading material?

I'm going to bet that you won't get many takers on those. Most of the posters here are liberal, and other than a few conservatives on the War Board most Sludgers probably can't read anything more complex than Dick and Jane books. They'll be stumped without the pictures. I'm as liberal as they...

Re: Students sent home for wearing AMERICAN clothing

What sickened me yesterday (when I was sporting my ROCK THE VOTE shirt, btw) was how many of the Hispanic people I work with were insisting that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican Independence. Um, NO, it's to commemorate the Mexicans winning a battle against the French (and, as an aside, if ...

Re: The new Arizona immigration law

Wow, you can practically hear the author of the New Times article shedding tears. I hate pussy journalism. So a guy who owns four McDonalds is under suspicion for ID theft and providing jobs and papers to illegals at his stores and MCSO ran an operation. Sounds like they were doing their job, not &...

I guess that's been deleted from the server now. New Times of Phoenix, eh? Sounds horrible on its face, but what was the purpose of the raids? And did she have ID on her, or did she need to contact someone who could bring it to her? I would like to see another account of the event by another source...

Re: Boycotting boys town.

Although I am vehemently against illegals and "baby-droppers", my issue with the Arizona law is that they have essentially made it a crime to travel without proof of citizenship. Shit, *I* don't travel with my birth certificate on me! Admittedly, I'm not likely to be asked for papers if s...

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 3/10

Exactly as stupid and forgettable as you think it would be; a lot of fun while watching it (if you can get past the huge anachronisms), but ultimately a movie designed for late night cable, if that.

There will always be people at the Rainbow.

That said, if I'm in town for a show, I tend to have more fun at the off-strip venues than I do when I'm at a gig at the Roxy or the Whisky.

* Fowley's relationship with the girls wasn't really explored. Yeah, you see him ranting and raving at them, but there is also the fact that he essentially molested at least two of them, and that was NOT made clear. In fact, if anything, you sit there going, "Why the fuck were they putting UP ...

THE RUNAWAYS (5/10) Yes, it was exactly as bad as I had feared. Admittedly, I'm so emotionally invested in the story of that band that pleasing me was probably impossible, but...these are my MAJOR quibbles with it: * Visually, it was utterly full of cliches. * Dakota Fanning was pretty dreadful. * T...

Oh, and one more 'memory' that could have been... I was at a Monday Night Raw taping in October 99 where, on the card that they gave you with the program, Droz was scheduled to wrestle D-Lo Brown. They had to cut that match because of time constraints. Instead they had the match the following night...
