Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Thanks! He keeps practicing like there's no tomorrow. Realistically, he already has more chops than he would ever need to make it big - though of course I encourage him to continue to expand those horizons. Tell him the story of Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, and Tony Fredianelli of Apocrypha and then 3rd...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

HELP I need a wiring schematic for a Kramer F 6000. I cant find what I need on the net so I thought Id ask here. What's the pickup, switch and knob config for that? A generic wiring config will work and Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan have diagrams on their websites. You can also go to Guitar Fetish if...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

I'm trying to keep emcouraging my son. This is a video taken last November when he was 14. There's a whole new generation coming up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2fdFkOtn9k Bah... when I was his age, we only played a couple of notes very slowly... AND WE LIKED IT. Now tell him to get off my lawn...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

I assume the wireless output was low impedance. Nah, regualr old guitar cords...probably high grade canare that I soldered myself, but still... You know, that was back in the day before the idea was developed that every fucking atom within 100 feet of a guitar can "suck tone". We used sto...

Here's a hollowbody with P-90s and great upper fret access: http://www.rondomusic.com/harm1whitep90.html I haven't played this model but I have their LP and SG copies and they are of at least equal quality to the respective Epiphones and are made in Korea like the Epis used to be (many are now made ...

This was just a goofy project I found, gave to him and he decided to sell. I do have a nice axis body and a strat body for sale. If y'all are talking about that Floyde-routed LP body with the hockey stick headstock, it looks like a knockoff of the Schon guitars that Neal Schon had Jackson build for...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Why is it that the firm price at all guitar shops for a set of Grover rotomatics is 70 bucks (if not 80) and you can get a brand new set online for 38 with free shipping? How in the hell can they justify that kind of mark-up? I can understand a certain percentage but almost double the price? WTF? T...

:? Those Blacktop Strats with Floyd Rose only come in black and Titanium and only rosewood fingerboards! I want the Sonic Blue with maple fingerboard! The thing is that it's $499 for either model, no upcharge for the Floyd but not in the color I want! I might get the sonic blue with maple board and ...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Man if that ESP Phoenix had minihums I'd be all over it http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/GTRs/stormbird/stormbird_frm.htm Around $399 new. You could pop in minibuckers with the mounting ring. $49 more, FUGLY headstock, plain dots instead of block inlays, no binding - you could always do the same with...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

It's amazing that they can make a guitar of that quality and sell it for $350. Probably made in Indonesia or China, maybe even Korea, but those countries are all capable of making quality guitars nowadays. That's basically a Firebird for about 1/5 the cost, probably plays better with an Indonesian s...

Ah, I didn't think about the top! Well that isn't really structural and what you did should do the trick! Hope it holds for you. I have Yamaha RGA 211M that has a separation at the low E side first couple of frets of the fingerboard. Bought it on Ebay and it was not disclosed but i got it dirt cheap...

I'd be more concerned about the crack spreading and the wood separating than it rotting per se. I assume you are talking about a LP Special since you say laminates. Where exactly is the crack?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Maybe so, but I think adjustment at the headstock so you don't have to remove the frigging neck is better! I am skeptical that you can make meaningful adjustments from a 90 degree angle, that's all. Instead of having something gimpy like that I'd think making it adjustable from the headstock would m...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

It's called a Gotoh Side-Adjuster. Go here http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/necks/warmoth_warmothpro.aspx and choose Side Adjust Mechanism. Sorry for any confusion -- I'm still learning. Okay, that is kind of weird! So the main truss rod adjuster is at the butt end and that thing allows you to make sm...

I don't know the relative terminology, but it is located on the high E side of the neck, in line with the 19th fret. I'll try to post a picture. A truss rod is located at one end of the neck or the other, not at the 19th fret. Some are at the headstock, some are like a Phillips screw embedded in th...

Yeah, you go in for the tuner change, and while it's on the bench the tech takes the nut files out for a second, files the bridge saddles clean of burrs too, and lines everything up straight from tailpiece to tuners. A lot of it is simply creating a straight line!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

One thing I love about the Agile guitars is that they come with Grovers stock! So do Epiphones. I did a quick fix that seems to be working. I re-strung the guitar with 9s instead of 10s and per a friend's advice, I raised the tailpiece a little. Both of those things seem to have taken a little tens...

They really are. Best performance and significantly cheaper than Schallers. One thing I love about the Agile guitars is that they come with Grovers stock! Although mine have licensed Floyds anyway, but the Grovers are still a pleasure!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

You do have to ream them out for Grovers, though I did with no regrets. However if you are having tuning issues you may want to check the nut grooves first. The locking Klusons sound good IF they are direct replacement. Ask and don't assume on that!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

$2300 for a modified '78? Seems a little high to me. Iknow a guy with a black Classic and EMGs for $1400. They're asking extra for the fact it's Tina Turner's guitar player's guitar. I wouldn't bite on that, but the ad says the guy is working for them now so if one could get a COA and they were a T...
