Your favorite HOME VIDEOS? Who did you throw $20 down on?
All-time favorite(s): A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica, specifically the studio half of it.
I really like the studio ones, like Aerosmith's The Making of Pump.
I had Ozzy's Don't Blame Me. I watched that one a lot. "Get the gun, get the gun, shoot shoot shoot shoot."
The Danzig home videos are absolute classics. Just 100% pure Danzigry.
Pantera 3: Watch it Go remains incredible. All of their home videos were great but that one is a work of art.
I love The Beatles Anthology. I've probably watched that whole series a dozen times.
Kiss had some good ones! eXposed, of course, then X-treme Close-Up and Kiss Konfidential in the early 90's, Second Coming around the reunion era.
Motley Crue's Uncensored is great but I think I like Decade of Decadence better. "Tommy Lee! He's got a gorgeous body!" "WHA??!!"

I loved Bon Jovi's Access All Areas. I took it to my friends' houses to get them to watch it.

Another vote for the Pantera videos. I could watch the clip of that pickup truck driving into a brick wall on loop for an hour.

Funny. I was just thinking about how cool A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica was, and how I need to watch it again. Turns out, the whole thing is on YouTube...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_MfB7pdL5Q
It's almost impossible to believe a band so cool, funny and inspired is the same one on Some Kind of Monster. It's like night and day.
Also loved Cliff 'Em All, which was basically a collection of bootleg performances.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hEL2rMXd8Q
How does that work? Did they have to track down each bootlegger and pay them for the rights? Or did they just steal it back?

Oh man, I forgot about SOME KIND OF MONSTER. It's a tough watch, but it's a classic... So many quotables in that shit. "Delete that.." is the most famous

Re: Your favorite HOME VIDEOS? Who did you throw $20 down on?
Aside from the Metallica stuff, the unholy trifecta that wore out my VCR was...
KISS Exposed
Motley Crue Uncensored
And believe it or not, W.A.S.P. Videos in the Raw
All three did a fun job with the mini-documentary thing, which I loved.
Honorable mention goes to the Danzig home video for the first album. The interviews are hilarious, especially Glenn talking about the "lost books of the bible" and teenage Jesus killing some kid.
I miss the Satanic '80s sometimes.

KISS ”Animalize - Live Uncensored”
Today I bet Paul wish it had been censored but what a fantastic gig/video! ”Exposed” is great as well but it had already been mentioned.
Mötley Crüe ”Uncensored” was great as well!

Re: Your favorite HOME VIDEOS? Who did you throw $20 down on?
Judas Priest Live Vengeance '82 - should have had a companion live album)
Duran Duran Sing Blue Silver (worth it for the opening press conference scene alone)
https://youtu.be/bMoN1KR3kyw
Black Sabbath Early Years vol 1&2 (before YouTube, was a first glimpse at all that cool early Paris concert and Born Again era footage)
And a strong second for Don't Blame Me. I still show it to people who only know Ozzy from the TV show. He was so .... coherent in that documentary.

A $19.99 price tag was the universal sign a band put out a worthwhile home video.
"KISS Crazy Nights" was something like $12.99, and just the three videos from the album. Nothing else.

Re: Your favorite HOME VIDEOS? Who did you throw $20 down on?
That came out the year after Xposed which they promoted by saying “other bands just put their music videos out on video, we would never ever do that, that’s just a cash grab”.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 5:44 pm A $19.99 price tag was the universal sign a band put out a worthwhile home video.

It hadn’t occurred to me earlier because I’d never bother now, but before the arrival of the internet and YouTube the Van Halen Live without a Net was very special because it gave us a chance to see Eddie play live.

Duran Duran's first video release was actually the very first thing I rented. Must have watched/rented that thing dozens of times.
And I agree about Danzig. Their home videos were the best!!!
