By far the most stupid bandname in music history. I never could get past the name. Songs are meh, although they are considered to be the second coming of the Beatles by some on here.
Cinderella has to be the worst name ever.
Nailed it. WTF were they thinking? The label should have asked them to change it. Not always a bad thing, one of the bands I rave about here could have ended up as Martial Arts if the label didn't request a change.
Another name I never liked is Britny Fox. There are other stupid names like Iron Angel, Leatherwolf or Denimgoat (really!) but at least they indicate that the band plays some kind of hard rock / metal.

Ric Browde just did a full in bloom interview where he said that he wouldn't produce Britny Fox because he thought they sucked (esp Dean) and that they were Cinderella clones.

obviously you take this way too seriously and were deeply affected by what transpired in the early 1990's and hopefully you are discussing these issues with a therapist in addition to other fans on music message boards.

I mean Cinderella were successful. Would they have had more success with a different name? Doubtful.

Why does chip still show up to lucky strike and wherever else with his wig and Halloween store glasses….who things this is cool? I figure this is the audience to ask
Because the fucker literally can't do anything else, and is perpetually broke. Always a hoot revisiting these:

The were successful despite the name. I'd imagine they would have done better with a better name. Cinderella fits an all-girl band or the glammiest of glam bands. (one we never saw the likes of and that's saying something.) Cinderella was a band with a pretty cool image, music, voice, and songs. A better name certainly would have helped. Would they have become the Beatles? No. Survived grunge? Maybe.
Cinderella doesn't bother me at all. Far from the worst name.
I think a metal band naming themselves The Devil Wears Prada a few years before a movie of the same name comes out is a bigger gaffe.

I never got this board's obsession with this band. While I enjoy some of their songs, some people treat them as if they are The Beatles of glam. Only album I listened to in its entirety is Animals with Human Intelligence and I didn't think it was all that amazing.

Their original drummer is a former co-worker.
He did some studio stuff on a very early project of mine too.
I never cared for his music though. I'm not into that kind of metal.
Good guy though.

They never seemed very Rockin' to me. Why didn't they just go further into an alternative direction?
The first 3 records are their definitive rock albums. The ones with Vik Fox on drums and Derek Frigo on guitar. S/T, Strength and Animals.
1985 is pop/rock. That's actually a retro demo album from 1985. It's real fun, catchy simple stuff that shows how they sound without the hard rock guys Vik and Frigo.
Tweaked and Paraphernalia show a more alternative side of the band. They are not 80's hard rock sounding at all. Paraphernalia is the better album if you ask me so I recommend checking that one out first.
Seven (aka Chip & Donnie Brothers) is the pop side of the band.
After that...they have like 20 more albums/compilations but the ones mentioned (plus Peach Fuzz) are their first albums that all have some great songs on them.
As for the name...I think it describes them well. They are very Cheap Trick influenced. There is a little humor to it.
Have you heard Dissonance? That is probably as heavy as they get. IMO, that was a Donnie solo record that EZN were lucky enough to play on. Donnie's "Troublemaker" is pretty heavy too.

I've heard them all. After Paraphernalia, I only like a song or 2 off of each one.
Donnie's Beautiful Things solo record is great.
How about the demo collection that came out recently.... is that work checking out? I think that's it now. They can't have any other unreleased songs left!
"You want Don Juan DeMarco, the world's greatest lover, to talk to you? What do you know of great love?"
Band name always turned me off...finally broke down and bought a live album a few years ago. I reckon it's pretty damn good...I've even seen them live but think it was without the almighty Donnie Vie.

For fuck's sake, more people on this board think Vain was/is a good band.

I think it is. I got one dirt cheap from amazon on vinyl. It's kind of cool to hear certain melodies were used in other songs before they found one that "clicked". The "naked Donnie" disc is best.
