Who the hell would still own something as useless as CDs. It wouldnt make any sense. You'd have to be stuck in the past, or enjoy retro things, like 8tracks. Or slide whistles. Or that game where you roll a ring with a wooden stick.

Zero, spare for one independent Great White release my out-of-touch brother "gifted" me a few years ago. I never previously owned a Great White album, but I'll forever be "high school metal guy" I suppose.

My massive collection from back in the day is stored in boxes in my parents' basement. They keep asking me if they can throw them out and I say no. For a long time, I felt it was pointless to keep them, but the quality of streaming is so shit, I keep thinking I'll want to go back and listen to how this music should sound one day.

I still have enough to fill a couple of bookcases but I very rarely listen to them. If I had a garage or basement, that is where they would go!

Still, I regret getting rid of most CD's, ALL cassettes and VHS tapes. I donated everything to Salvation Army in the late 90's. Literally hundreds. Lots of Metal Edge and Playboy Magazines too! Some great 90's porn rags too. I think I may have traded by Operation Mindcrime cassette for a few issues of Stag or something like that!

Around 700 and counting. Had a few years where I almost didn't buy cds due to streaming and downloads and got rid of some cds but noticed I listened a lot less to music using Deezer and Spotify so I went back to buying cds.

Had almost the same amount of vinyl but there I never really started buying again after purging. Almost all vinyl I have left is signed or rare.

Probably around 1000......... would usually listen to 2 a day (drive to and from work), but my new work truck doesn't have a CD player.......... I bought a portable CD player that "should" work/connect with 99% of all new vehicles (mine was the 1%), so I bought a 2nd portable CD player with built in speakers, but it sounds like shit...........might see if I can get someone to install a CD player.

I still have about 50. I keep thinking I'll be road tripping through areas you can't get Bluetooth or radio or camping in dead zones and I'll want them. I still use them when I drive to the coast because there are dead areas there. You pass them in 10 minutes but I didn't have to be tuneless in that time.

I went through them all & whatever wasn't worth 5$ on discogs, I donated. That left me with a couple hundred. I still listen to them in the car & at home via a cd walkman hooked to my receiver. I have a turntable & a cassette deck, as well.

I regret selling a lot of them but I had thousands at one point. When I was working at Columbia records, I took home entire ROOMS full of demos//alternative mixes/you name it that were going into the dumpster in 2008 when everyone was laid off. I’d probably be a millionaire if I kept all of them. So many different b-sides and demos send straight from the studio to the label and A&Rs responsible for those artists. I was 19 and was smart enough to take them but I didn’t hold on to everything to archive and sell now 17 years later.

620 or so. I rip them all uncompressed so I can have them available to stream using Plex.

I'm sure whatever compression Spotify uses is fine for my 44 year old ears, but it's the principle of the thing, and there's a lot of artists/albums that aren't on streaming services, or that will randomly drop off for periods of time during contract negotiations.

At some point... easily 5-6,000.... and 30-40%, were sealed and never even opened.

Being signed to labels, and... while running Sludge in the heyday... getting boxes of catalog product in the mail, was on the regular.

Also, I used to work at Virgin Records, the label, not the store... and I can't tell you how much stuff they gave me, and I took even more.

These labels give away endless product, and every time a guest would visit, they would say "Stevie, take them shopping..." which meant walk them into the storage area, give them a bag or box, and tell the guest... "Take whatever you want..." and they would load up and leave.

I have talked to other artists, who were signed back in the day, and every time we'd visit the label(s), we would come home with a car load of product.

Then add in, printing 3-4-5 dozen titles on RLS over time... and there is another 20-30 thousand or more! I still have a sh!t load of product in my warehouse (garage).

At some point back 15-20 years ago, I would go into my garage, and grab 100-200 CDs, take them to Second Spin, or other, and they would give me a few hundred bucks for them.

Then at some point,... I listed 2k+ on Amazon... and sold them 1 at a time... over the years. Ranging from $5.99 to $15.00 a pop! Vinyls... sell for much more... even used vinyl. will easily fetch $20-25 or more on Amazon.

I haven't had a CD player in forever... and I still do not have a record player either....
