I still own all of mine. Probably 300-400. I haven't counted in years. I still buy CDs and rip them to iTunes (or they auto-download from Amazon when I buy the CD). Still have all my cassettes from the 80s and early-90s too.
My music collection is small compared to others here so it doesn't take up so much room. No need to get rid of it.

Also, I used to work at Virgin Records, the label, not the store... and I can't tell you how much stuff they gave me, and I took even more.
These labels give away endless product, and every time a guest would visit, they would say "Stevie, take them shopping..." which meant walk them into the storage area, give them a bag or box, and tell the guest... "Take whatever you want..." and they would load up and leave.
Sounds familiar. I used to work in EMI/CBS storage in the 80's and got a lot of free records. It pissed me off when music journalists used to send huge lists of records they wanted- for free. I'm sure they didn't even listen to most, but sold them for record stores.
Recently got rid of a lot of mine but kept around 100 of either my favorite bands or might be worth something. Once I got a new truck without a cd player there was less of a need for them. Plus I gave into streaming!
About 100. I've bought more cd's over the years as vinyl prices started to skyrocket, especially on hair metal. Sorry, just not going to pay $150-200 for a copy of Vain No Respect on vinyl when I can buy the CD for $10.
Dunno, they’re all in my garage, I went digital 15 years ago. My son loves vinyl, I think it’s stupid, was happy to get rid of it. Can’t play vinyl in your car!
I ripped all my rare shit to digital and still do
I still use iTunes as an interface for everything.
Apple CarPlay is my friend
Like 300, not buying everything all over again. Plus i prefer cd’s

Patton could sing anything that those other singers have ever sang. But none of them could sing Patton's catalog.

Dude - did you, like, just get ass-fucked by Patton or something? You're really off the hook here.
About 1,000 that I bought mostly in my 20's and I've bought maybe another 500 in the last couple years, usually on the cheap. I bought a house last year and am working building shelving for my music room/library. Most of the time I listen to music on a couple old Ipod classics in mono because I'm deaf in one ear. I'm more into books than CDs and vinyl, but I'll still pick them up when the price is right. Once I get all the shelving built, I'm flying a buddy in who does home audio installations and he's going set me up with a good quality sound system and I plan on spending my 50's and beyond sitting in my leather chair with the music loud and a book in my hands.
Including box sets and singles? 1939. Yes I have a running spreadsheet that I use to keep up with them. I've had it going since the days of house parties and friends "borrowing" my shit and me not knowing what was missing. Yes, they are alphabetized and band albums are chronological on the wall. Here's the thing. I buy CDs, rip them to FLAC for the house and MP3 for the car and then they go right up on the wall, never to be played again. Will I ever get rid of them? No. I like the way they look on display. It's like art. Despite the number of CDs I own, they don't even take up half of a ten foot wall space in my music room.
About 600 or so…just because I stream everything now doesn’t mean I’m gonna ditch my collection…still have around 300 of my original vinyl records…I did ditch my cassette collection years ago though…
Ain't flinging tears out on the dusty ground for all my friends out on the burial ground. Can't stand the feeling getting so brought down. It's just that demon life has got me in its sway
I have about 2000 . I just have the disc and insert/cover as threw out the cases and went to cd binders. One shelf seemed more manageable than a whole wall.
