Alright, fair enough. I don't really care too much either way about this, but if I had any feelings about this, it would be: Good, fuck 'im.
I'm a big believer in decent behaviour, be kind to others etc, and I can't stand people like him who take advantage of other people. He was once a porn star... okay, so what??? The same written and unwritten rules applies to him as you and me.
I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie, that was before my time.

No, he's not medically fit to stand trial. It's a standard legal thing. Some people fake it (look up massive fraudster Ernest "alzheimers" Saunders), most are genuinely mentally ill. You can have prima facie evidence but if he can't go in the dock it's not a fair trial under the law. If he was a violent schizophrenic who migh repeat his crimes he'd have stayed in the secure mental facility. There's no chance of him touching a woman again except any carer, so
legally, he's 'safe' to be released.

There is way more to this then RJs mental competency. First off, you often don't testify against yourself and can't be made to answer questions or even be deposed if you choose not to. Second, you can try a dead guy if you want to. Thirdly, as about 98% of cases go, a plea could have been reached. "We will drop the trial if he agrees to a parking violation". That way the state gets to claim a "win" and RJ gets off Scott free.

Yeah, because cases like Jeremy's happen all of the time. By the time the person with dementia or whatever goes to trial, charges are dropped because the defendant is not fit for trial. Verne Gagne, the wrestler who killed a guy in a nursing home is a more famous example.

Verne Gagne killed that man when he is was already in the throes of dementia and did not know what he was doing anymore.
By all accounts Jeremy committed his supposed crimes while he was still of healthy mind and started rapidly succumbing to dementia whilst in prison and is now so far gone he is unfit for trial.

If the defendant is ruled incompetent to stand trial, the criminal case proceedings will be suspended and the Court can take one of several courses of action.
