Feel free to post pics of any or all of this, including progress shots of the Melody Maker! I miss my 1963 double cut Melody Maker, fat wide neck, almost classical-guitar wide! Cut my little Vox AD15 into a head running it into a Lopoline 1x12 cab for recording, freaking thing is such a great little amp for lower volume stuff it is ridiculous.
Got the fretboard back on the Melody Maker I am restoring, hope to do the frets this weekend as well as final prep for paint, Pelham Blue!

Cool, i was just looking at one of these on ebay. Never used tremolo before, but I think I want one. They sell pretty cheap too....Sleek wrote:You guys and your chorus pedals!
You know who uses chorus pedals???
Fucking Canadians, that's who!
In America, we use tremolo. Like the true men that we are.
I just got one of these here:
...very pleased with it. It has a cool thing where it gets faster the harder you play...so you hit a chord, and it starts out all fast, then gets slower as the chords rings out...very cool. Sort of a leslie thing...
...and when it slows down, it locks to the tempo you tapped in.

Just got my Boss EC-2 Chorus pedal modified by Robert Keeley in the mail at lunchtime. I only had a few minutes to mess with it but holy cyrstal clear tone batman. It's perfection. Rings like a bell, and only after dicking with it for a few I'm in love.
Robert Keeley is tone God.

Sweet flame top, with a finish that will leap out! Hard to tell about the headstock, is it gonna be matching flame or standard black?

I've never owned one with stainless steel frets, but I bet they resonate better, plus I imagine it's one and done with stainless frets. Probably never have to do that guitar's frets again.ElToro wrote:I'm also doing super jumbo stainless steel frets. She'll play like butter!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Stainless never pit, wear, nothing! String bends are uber-smooth (no resistance).
I have real strong hands and do some crazy bends, this takes it even farther and smoother.
The new EVH guitars have stainless, I think.

Picked up an mxr micro flanger over the weekend.
It's very cool. Does the sounds you need it to, doesn't take up your whole fucking pedal board like the other Mxr one...
I run it through the loop so I can get the over-the-top EVH style flange, BTW...but it pleasantly also does those huge Hendrix-style rotovibe sorta things as well. Very nice.

Got that and a Custom Comp. I'm on an MXR kick.
Anyone have good results with a Metal Muff in their chain? I'm worried that the EHX buffer might affect my clean tone.

Picked up an electric acoustic over the weekend...
Playing an acoustic show next week, so I needed one.
After trying out about a million...I went with an Epiphone.
Played good (great for right-out-of-the-box) looks good (nice dark vintage sunburst, old style Epi logo, big "E" on pickguard~all favorites of mine) and sounds as good as even the expensive ones. (To my ears all piezos are shit anyway.)
Used it at rehearsal last night, and I'm pretty damned happy, though I did break a string.

The difference in quality between Epi electrics versus Epi acoustics is remarkable to me...Looks to be a cool axe...For live acoustic musicians - piezos are the easy way out...I can say that for certain 'cause I hate them yet use them regularly...Sleek wrote:Picked up an electric acoustic over the weekend...

I also picked up (no pun intended) one of those Shadow contact pickups~the ones that are like a little mic you stick to the top of the guitar. If it sounds good and we keep doing acoustic stuff, I might try to sort out a way to mix the two...
BTW, Epis are my favorite guitars across the board. My main electric is a 2000's Riviera...I think peeps problems with Epis comes when they try to use the brand to get a Les Paul on the cheap!
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Epi's true "bang for the buck" not only lies within their acoustics (I have a cheapie PR-4E that I can never put down...) but within their semihollow guitars as well. I'm a big fan of the Sheraton and Dots. The Casino is great, if it didn't make so much damn noise.
