Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Gigged with the new board last night...it was very good. Saved me a bunch of setup hassle...and it has a built-in booster/buffer that eliminated my need for my CAE clean boost I was using to get the loop return back up to line level, which is very good.
My only qualm is that one of my pedals (micro Pog) takes a higher amperage DC than the board spits out, so I still gotta run it on a wall wart...
I hate when shit like that happens...you know, where they almost make a *great* product, but ruin it with some small, easily fixed detail like not running the 9VDC at 200 or even 300 ma.

See the new LP Studio 50's Tribute Goldtop? Dayum!!! no binding, light satin finish, soapbars, hot diggity! Went to buy one but already sold out. Sounds like Gibby will not be shipping any non-CS stuff for a while, bummer............whatever got out before the flood is it.

Are you going to check and see if they are original PAF's? Pawn shops tend to overlook things like that.ElToro wrote:I just got a pair of double creme Gibson p/u's for $40 from a pawn shop!!! WooHoo!

Going for a double cream Dimarzio Air Zone - anyone use one? I like the Tone Zone but wish it was a bit more vintage-y.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Well, I didn't buy anything but I did get to shoot some amazing rare guitars yesterday....
This picture has: from front to back...
1959 Les Paul in MINT condition...absolutely stunning guitar.
Behind the '59 is an ES-330
Behind the ES-330 is a prototype LP that was given to Les at a NAMM show a few years back and he used it for guest stars who jammed w/him at the Iridium Jazz Club.
In this shot we have:(Back to front)
Early 70's Gibson Ls-1(I may have the correct year written down at home, I'll check)
1959 Les Paul
2004 or 2005 Joe Perry Signature Les Paul
1960 Gibson LP Jr.
'70 or '71(I think...gotta check my notes) Gibson Doubleneck
The black strat is a "Blackie" Clapton copy done by a local Luthier here in town.
This is a '64 Sears Silvertone amp and a Mary Kaye(her actual guitar...I have the year written down in my notes at home)
So yeah, I got to noodle for a little bit(unplugged) on the '59...and holy shit it felt good and was oozing w/mojo.
We're going to shoot these guitars as well as some other really rare stuff in a recording studio set up pretty soon.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I have been doing a 5 day guitar building class with Mike Learn. Mike is probably better known for the graphics he has done for Charvel / Jackson over the years. Anyway you build the guitar from scratch, I gotta say it is coming along great. If ya have a FB account check out the progress. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/alb ... &aid=50058
I'll try and get some photos up here after I finish the class tomorrow. So far the best money I've spent on an instrument yet. Off to day # 4

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Mike Learn is the man! He posts at the JCF forums from time to time too, great guy! I can't see the link though, it says "content currently unavailable". I'll check back, but look forward to your pics too! To say you built it under his tutelage is even better than ordering a custom alone! Do you intend to become a builder?jakepleather wrote:I have been doing a 5 day guitar building class with Mike Learn.
