Well, I don't really have the capability to record a drum kit (and I'm pretty sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate it!), and some of my gear could use some upgrading, but otherwise, yeah, I'm doing pretty well. :)
It must be better than metalsludgelegend's studio. :)

I think I should pump out a few tunes for old time's sake.

I have one of those. Good stuff! For the majority of the band's guitar tracks, we're recording using both the Sennheiser e609 and the Royer Labs 121.

The e609's sound is not all that different from an SM57. The Royer gives a very full sound (it's amazing how much what it picks up sounds like what you actually hear when you're right in front of the cabinet), but it's not particularly bright, so we use the Royer for the body of the tone and mix in the e609 for some additional high-end sizzle. An SM57 would work great for that application too, and we tried it, but found we liked the Sennheiser better.

Damn. I remember trying to mic the guitar 3 or 4 different ways. One amp in the bathroom, one in the big room, etc...

I guess I miss it a bit.

Check this one out:

An Epiphone Jay Jay French Les Paul Standard. This ain't the Elitist version, it was some limited run to independent dealers. Pretty cool eh? It's pink burst.

I'm thinking of swapping the pickups for Duncan 59s for a bluesy rock tone, any other suggestions for pickups?

Do it.

I played one before, great at a low volume, but you can get a great overdrive at not too loud of a volume :)

There are some great boutique pick up winders. WB makes cool stuff and Skatterbrane makes the best original sounding PAF out there.

I also think Lindy Fralin is awesome for that 59 tone.

I'm not a fan of Ovation as far as tone, but live they are the easiest guitar to deal with and get the job done!!!

I sold my wine red Custom, but still have a few sunburst Standards, a Menace, two Specials and a custom made 1 p/u LP by Rist on the way!!!

I concur.

My bandmate calls Ovations "woks" because of how they're shaped!

Ovation's are OKAY. But to me the bowl-back sorta wears thin with me after a while.

Check out Epiphone Masterbilt acoustics - for the price you can't beat 'em.
