Ty Tabor is one of my favorite players of all time. Love the tone, and the guitar he was playing the last time I saw them(August) was gorgeous and sounded like butta.

What is the emblem on the 12th fret? I know Ty has an "X" on his...it doesn't look like an x on yours...is that the Yamaha logo? I can't tell. Also love the color...

Nice wife you have! Mine has banned me from buying another guitar for at least a year and a half. she's a smart gal. haha

Haven't tried it, but I have heard it's top-notch. They make dirfferent models rated for different wattages, make sure you get one that will handle your amp.

The Weber Mass and the THD Hotplates are considered the best attenuators commercially available rigtht now. Of older attenuators, the Scholz Power Soak is said to be dangerous to amps as far as blowing output transformers.

Now I owned one and it never hurt my amp, but I didn't crank the amp comeletely either, just opened it up to about 4 so I wasn't getting that thin master-volume sound. I balanced the master and attenuator because I felt when you ran it full-up it ate too much tone anyway, really dulled the treble response. Run the amp enough where it's opened up but not totally dimed and you can use less attenuation and keep more tone. JMO.

Are those Lace Alumitones on the yam?

I ended up returning the champion I posted earlier, and just got a champ

Image

For some reason I've always liked champs, but have never been happy with them. and I've had or played pretty much all of them.

This one I expected to be trash, but it was actually cool. It is tube power & preamp, with the dsp shit added. I did have to retube it out of the gate to get rid of the noise, and will probably put a new speaker in it, but for under 2 bills new, it will be cool when it's "Fixed." They have a ten inch one, but I needed small. The bigger one had a footswitch, but it's too small to really do anything but piss my old lady off.

At least Fender charged what a chinese amp should be priced at.

Those seemed interesting. The champ sounds better after it broke in a bit. I'm up in the air about what speaker to put into it. 8" doesn't leave a lot of choices. Weber seems to have the mini market covered.

As far as the jam along stuff, I liked this ad for the jamvox

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzVzF7ec6SA

You can tell she's lying.

Vox is notorius for putting out crap. It can sound great, but there is a decent chance it might not make any sound at all.

I still want to hear if those are alumitones, and the opinion of em. I work right by lace, and the sell them out front sometimes. Especially now that they're moving.

I was cruising this thread earlier, looking for Capt morgan's tele for some spank material, and there was a post about a guitar where the guy had an old boogie. I have to say, ANYTHING would sound great through that fucker.

And surprisingly, I still like the little champ.

haha. I guess I should say WOW. I got a THD Hotplate and now I'm cranking the Soldano and getting some rediculously warm tone. i've been using the Big Red Machine mostly w/a touch of Flange and a smidge of Delay and I cannot get over how molten the tone is. I realized I was using a little too much distortion, so I backed off just a touch and everything cleaned up beautifully.

The amp is raging but tight...not getting that loose out of control tone anymore. I love that damn red box. The flange is just amazing how it really has a cleaning quality, everything just flows....if that makes sense. The combination of the Hotplate and the Big Red Machine was the answer I was looking for. Once I figured out the delay, everything just sounded HUGE.

My drummer and I jammed the other night and he remarked on how 'clean and tight' everything sounded. I thought those were the perfect words to describe the overall effect of the BRM. Just a badass tone.

I really shouldn't sound this good! Thanks again Toro!

Got a new Vox AC-15 for $429. Looking into a replacement speaker for it - it's down to the Eminence Red Fang and Weber Blue Dog. Trying to get as close as I can to the Alnico Blue without the cost...

Not sure - I know it has 2 12AX7s and 2 EL84s, but it's probably a solid state rectifier.
