the movie came out just a little too early.

Of all the budgetary bullshit shortcuts the movie took, this pissed me off the most. Are you fucking kidding me? It shows a level of lazy and cheap (or ignorance) that obviously ran through the rest of the movie as well.

I hated the fact that they couldnt put the right wigs on any of them. Had to be to make em less extreme. Like if people saw this hair on Sixx and Neil, they wouldnt be able to get the "heart" of the story?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Yah, the problem with them not just getting a Les Paul for "Mick" was that the Epi they used didn't exist in '80 or '81 when that scene took place.
I mean, if they had a seventies Jap Les paul knockoff or whtevz, then fine, at least there is plausible deniabilty...but AN EPIPHONE FROM THE FUTURE????
Up with this, I shall not put.

I suggested Ron get a warlock like mine, so if he shows up with one with the widow headstock, I am to blame.

I don't get the trend lately of no tailpiece and no adjustable bridge saddles. Intonation nightmare. Not exactly "NEW AND IMPROVED!" to me. Also, you go to great lengths with binding and inlays all over but then just run out of give a shit on the neck inlays. Sure hope they summoned the energy to plop a few marker dots on the top edge or you're lost as a fucking goose on the upper frets.Mojo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:35 amThe upcoming Gold Glory, Jared James Nichol's signature Epi Les Paul, gets the closest, yet.exitflagger wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:23 am Interesting development. I hate those wraparounds as well...there was a Schaller one that came out a million years ago that fixed all of the problems and also had fine tuners and shit I'd like to have but when you see them now they are like$200+...

Not sure I understand the need for fine tuners on a fixed bridge?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I didn't even notice there were no markings above the 15th fret. Like you said, the intonation nightmare from the lack of a TOM was enough to rule this one out for me. If there was at least an intonated bar bridge, like Gretsch used to do, that'd be one thing. Also, it's a tiny gripe, but if you're going to have a P-90 on a gold top, it should be cream.exitflagger wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 3:29 pm I don't get the trend lately of no tailpiece and no adjustable bridge saddles. I switched out the wraparound tailpiece on my LP recently with one that is more “intonation friendly” .
Huge improvement.

This thangy just arrived at my doorstep today. It's carbon fiber, so I'll never worry anymore about excess or lack of humidity (or knocking it around).
I'm pretty amazed. It's heavy duty and kicks ass.

Dude, fine tuners are always good. Look at violins.VinnieVincentsVag wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 3:55 pmNot sure I understand the need for fine tuners on a fixed bridge?
...but they are great for getting the string that laaaaast 1% in tune without having to worry about it grabbing at the nut and doing that whole thing where you tune under the note then bring it back to pitch. Whenever I have had them on a guitar, I have found them very helpful...sadly you almost never see them on non-Floyds.
Fine tuners were more of a seventies thing, came stock on a lot of Gibsons, in this configuration:
My ideal would be the fine tuner tailpiece with the harmonica wide-travel intonation bridge...mrrrlelekrmrngpitgnpbrneb

Had it for twenty minutes and already know it’s the best playing guitar I’ve played in a very long time.

Anyone have a Xavier?
Was watching a YouTube review and it seems like they build a pretty decent guitar for under $300.
Cool quick pickup replacement feature.

You're lucky that even though I'm very young and sexy, instead of decrepit and old, I actually know who that is.

Sweet. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it. I'm a Tele purist, in that if I want anything even remotely Tele-ish, I want a legit Fender Tele with single coils and a maple neck. Preferably a Butterscotch Blonde. But then, Teles are too small for me, anyway.
