I was still a big Crue fan at that time. I had no problem with Castillo and actually liked New Tattoo. Now, it's not great but it's 100X better than SOLA.

Never understood Castillo’s appeal as a drummer.

Back then i thought Vince was fat compared to his 80’s days. Now he looks skinny there lol. Also, this may have been the last time Mick was without a hat.

My eyesight must be going bad, I tried finding where Randy said that in his interview but I am unable to find it. What question number did that happen to be? Here's the link to his interview.

Cant recall but I do remember him saying it. That the album went nowhere. And its true.
But still a good album to me.

That's pretty funny. Vince was already starting to gain weight when Exposed was released, and I haven't actually watched any old clips for a while. Clicking on this, I expected him to be much fatter, but he actuallly doesn't look half bad - especially when compared to today.

I agree. I still like "Punched In The Teeth By Love", "Fake", "Hollywood Ending", "She Needs Rock N Roll" and the title track.

Randy's drums were "off" on the classic songs live. Especially double bass on songs like "Livewire". Still MUCH better than Samantha Moleny was with them.

Who actually sang those taped backing vocals? Is it the same ones from the album? Is it Bob Rock?

Castillo is like Sorum in the fact that he's solid and capable (which is why he worked so much) but there is nothing memorable about his playing.

It was better having castillo on drums at that point rather than a rock hating wigger with braids. They were a rock band again.

I thought Randy killed it playing for Ozzy.

There was a pay per view special as well in 2000. I think it was from the Maximum Rock Tour with Megdeth and Anthrax that summer.

I still have that on video too. I remember most of the songs were ridiculously slow.

Damn, I honestly can't remember now. I want to say it was Randy? Did she do the entire tour? I saw it in Concord and she was playing for sure.

Castillo was great with Ozzy.

As mentioned above there was something a little off about Castillo playing the Crue classics, but I think that is probably just because like him or hate him (and around this era he deserved the hate) Tommy is a really good drummer. I can't say he was an innovator, but he did have a style that was recognizable. I don't know what word to use to describe it. To me the word is swing, but I know that is an actual drum term and it would not be used to describe Tommy's style by knowledgeable drummers. To me though he has a swing. He has a unique way of hitting the high-hat on the in between beats. The breakdown in the middle of Teaser is a good example. Or the ride cymbal at the end of Dr Feelgood.

Anyways, I think that is why it sounds different when other people have played for Motley. I think the main thing about Randy Castillo was that he was a really cool guy and easy to get along with. He liked to party, didn't have much of an ego, and just seemed cool. It's a shame he died so young. I'm sure he lived a full life though. RIP
