Guess who's just canceled their US tour...

W.A.S.P. U.S. 2023 Tour Cancelled

Because of the extensive back injuries suffered by Blackie Lawless during the European leg of the 40th Anniversary Tour, the W.A.S.P. 2023 U.S. Tour will be cancelled until Spring 2024. Tickets and VIP packages can be refunded at the point of purchase.

Blackie Lawless discussed his back injury, "The extent of the trauma I endured on the 2023 European Tour was far greater than originally diagnosed and surgery will now be needed to correct the problem. In addition to the original herniated disc, as that tour continued, a 2nd disc became herniated. Upon returning home a 2nd MRI also revealed a broken vertebrae to my lower back. I've been fortunate to work with the best specialists in the U.S. and I've been in intensive rehab since we got home. It's going well but the damage was pretty extensive and all the Dr.'s agree moving the tour a few months back will be the safest thing. It's all been as the result of an injury that happened several years ago. I'm working my butt off to get ready and I'll be up riding on Elvis... bigger and badder than ever. If the Torture Never Stops, then the 40th Never Stops!"

Saw this coming. I had tix to a venue that sent out a list of upcoming shows for the next month or so. The WASP show wasn't on.the rundown in the email. I sent a message to the venue asking why and if the show was still happening. The silence was deafening.

However, Blackie's back issues seems to be a legit reason to cancel. Probably shouldn't have even scheduled the 2nd US run but at least the cancelation isn't because venue's couldn't support a mic stand.

ahh, just request a vat of tiger balm on the tour rider

but seriously, back pain can be a real issue. Agree with the other poster, that they shouldn't have booked the US leg if there were doubts.

His back hurts because he's been carrying the metal scene for 40 years!

LOL, I'm joking, it's because he's an old fuck and he sucks.

That sucks, but honestly, I'm not surprised. I knew there was going to be no way he was recovered in time. Hoping that the shows do get rescheduled for 2024.

Also, the shows do show as cancelled in Ticketmaster, but no refunds have been issued yet. I put in a request for them to explain when refunds will be processed.

I just got this email: "The good news is that no action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days."

That's such shady syntax. Live Nation IS the event organizer!

He canceled because he doesn’t want to be somebody anymore.

This is something I feared back when he started talking about the injury during the European tour. Last year's U.S. tour was a success by most counts and this second run was pretty important in re-establishing W.A.S.P. as a viable live act that can draw. This is not going to help with the perception that Blackie is unreliable and it will be interesting to see if they try to reschedule this or just return to playing South American festivals for the next few years.

Why doenst he not cancel, but get the deposits and travel around pulling up to the venue and not playing?

Not a car, a truck. He trucks like a beast.
