I'd guess people will like this album based on how much they liked Turbo. I loved Turbo and love this album. Always thought Out in the Cold was a really cool opener

Agree. Throw Parental Guidance and RYAATW into the fires of Mt Doom, and you're left with a damn fine live album, with Halford in about his best form of his career.

Also, you cant see the costumes if you just listen to the album.

Very Good/Almost Excellent/Unfairly Overlooked/Unfairly Underrated*

*assuming PG and RYAATW are thrown into the fires of Met Doom.

It took a while to grow on me but I dig it. Album cover sucks though!

I don't really like Out in the Cold as an opener, though. I get that they wanted to open with something new, but Love Bites would have been a better opener. Or Electric Eye, or Metal Gods, something with more energy... anything BUT Out in the Cold.

great record.

The question is, Priest Live or Unleashed in the East?

Unleashed In The East wins any day.

Priest...Live is still very good, though.

I believe that was the last album where they opened with a new song... At least till Nostradamus or something.

Ram it down took it back to Electric Eye, Painkiller started with HBFL.

yeah, though I probably like the songs better on ‘live.’

How much was due to Les on drums?

Love both...Live and of course "...East."

Didnt Dokken (not shockingly) open those shows where ...Live was recorded?

Anyway, worth it for Out In the Cold, Freewheel Burning and The Sentinel alone. Great stuff there

Priest Live any day. Especially with the video bonus tracks Desert Plains and Green Manalishi that they put on the remaster.

It was the right color.

Yes, I was at the Dallas show they recorded for some of the home video/live album and Dokken opened. We got stuck in Friday night rush hour traffic going to the show and then the line to park was really long, so we ended up missing the first half of Dokken's set, which we were bummed about.

Yeah, in Heavy Metal Paring Lot, the interviewers ask the fans if they also like Dokken, and universally they all said yes.

Did Dokken ever headline?

They headlined some shows in Japan where they recorded Beast from the East. They were supposed to finally headline their own tour right after Monsters of Rock but they broke up before they could.

Yeah they could've maybe done one of those 3-act package deals like Cinderella/Winger/Bulletboys.

After the Priest tour, they did some shows opening for Loverboy, and then the last few shows of that tour were headlining with Great White opening.

A friend (RIP) who ran a Priest related web site heard when they rehearsed for the RID tour in Stockholm and said they tried out opening with the title track and into Heavy Metal. They also rehearsed Turbo Lover which was added later only in the tour and one more song that never made that tour's setlist.

And also Locked In and Hell Bent for Leather which were in the set. Great tour, great album which even if heavily doctored had the energy from the live shows and bootlegs. One of my favorite live albums ever. I like Unleashed too but it was too short and didn't reflect their live show /setlist as well. Always thought they had so many songs there from SWOD mostly for business reasons as they gave up the rights to the original album when they left Gull for CBS.

Anyone listen to the bonus live discs that they added to the recent Turbo re-release? I can't imagine that there's a big difference between it and Priest...Live! Same identical banter?

Not a big difference but not exactly the same as it's a different source and show. Also if I remember correctly it's the full unedited show across two discs so it has all the missing songs in the right place.

Love Priest...Live. The Fuel for Life tour/video was amazing and the Turbo live discs are fantastic as well.

This was also the show that KK got a guitar string poked into his eyeball and just put on sunglasses and did the show.

If memory serves me, didn’t Halford say in his book that they made no money on that tour ? They blew so much on videos, promoting and a massive stage that they ended with almost nothing .
