Vixen at Wacken 2023
https://www.magentamusik.de/vixen-exclu ... 8595409259
I've got questions...
1) How the hell did Vixen get booked for an hour set at WACKEN in 2023?!? Hell, they only had 50 minutes when I saw them at Rock USA in 2015, and that was with all living members of the classic lineup.
2) Who listened to this mix at soundcheck and okayed that keyboard, that's FAR, FAR too loud?!?
Also, pissed that Joey Belladonna singing Antisocial with Doro got cut from the broadcast. Rights issues, I guess?

Julia Lage, the bass player, is having so much fun on stage she steals the show.

But we were talking about my username (Biggus Dickus - and his wife Incontinentia Buttocks), a Monty Python's Life Of Brian joke.

Didn’t watch the whole set but the second song was a Femme Fatale song. Maybe they played a few extra non Vixen songs.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 4:56 pm https://www.magentamusik.de/vixen-exclu ... 8595409259

Do they even have any original members at this point?

Re: Vixen at Wacken 2023
Just think of this band as Roxy's Vixen. Britt Lightning isn't bad to look at. I wouldn't mind free, or cheap, tickets.

Crowd footage in the linked video would indicate they had the same question.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 4:56 pmI've got questions...

Is it just me, or does the keyboard guy's Satan shirt make him stand out a bit? As in, usually he'd be in a more Wacken-oriented band, but hey a gig's a gig?

That's Tyson Leslie, he used to play in a lot of bands/project in the Kansas City area before moving to Nashville awhile back. https://canvasrebel.com/meet-tyson-leslie/krisholmes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 2:42 pm Is it just me, or does the keyboard guy's Satan shirt make him stand out a bit? One of the most versatile talented guys I’ve ever known, he’s a friend. He’s a badass on keys, does dueling pianos on MORC, killer bassist, guitarist, drummer, and singer. He leads a Nashville all star show called Rare Hare every few months. Find him on YouTube.woblinweebles wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 4:16 pmThat's Tyson Leslie, he used to play in a lot of bands/project in the Kansas City area before moving to Nashville awhile back. https://canvasrebel.com/meet-tyson-leslie/krisholmes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 2:42 pm Is it just me, or does the keyboard guy's Satan shirt make him stand out a bit? No qualms about what he played or how he played it, it's just it was super LOUD in the mix, to the point that it was distracting from the rest of the song.DevastatinDave wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 11:50 am

Re: Vixen at Wacken 2023
I watched the video. but kept getting sidetracked. First I started wondering which members were original. So off to internet I went and found the answers. It just the drummer that is from the classic lineup. Then I read about the history of the band and get bummed out when I see the original guitarist passed away. Look up pictures of her and think she had some sweet hair back in the day.
Start watching the video and while not totally into it, it is not bad. When I hear the intro to "Running With The Devil" I get excited, but then that turns into something less interesting. That's a real nice Jackson guitar the guitarist has and she is good looking too. Are they playing "Still of The Night" now, huh?
Now we are at the end and they are gonna play their best song. Not a bad show, seems quite respectable compared to what other bands from the era are putting out.

This is awesome to see!
Had to be an absolute CHARGE of a lifetime for the ladies to play a gig in front of such a massive crowd.
Kudos to their management or booking agent to get this deal setup.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe they like keyboards high in the FOH mix, cause this is the same!DevastatinDave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 7:42 amYeah, I agree. Maybe sounded better there. Nah, that sounds a lot better blended in. I think DD was probably right, might have sounded better actually at the festival.Ale wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:02 am

Honestly, they sound damned good.
Surprised LAGlamrocker didn't make a reference to Ace Von Johnson being a touring guitarist for them in 2018.

Ace Von Johnson isn’t big enough star to be in Vixen or Justin James Vixen
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"
