I hate when bands line up after a show and take a bow
Looking at you “GNR”.
But others do it too. It’s hard for me to envision anything LESS metal.
Individual band members milling around on stage after the lights come on tossing drum sticks or guitar picks is okay. But the formal, and oh so contrived, arm in arm hugging group bow is just the cringeworthy cherry on top of the mom rock sundae.
Just tell everyone to drive home safely and get it over with.

It’s an old show business tradition, derived from the theatre and vaudeville. No problem with it at all. I’d say more rock/metal bands do it than not. Usually it’s a good photo op too.

As long as they face the audience, no problem.
When they stand with their backs to the audience so someone can take a photo or film to show how the big the audience is, that's when it gets stupid. Especially if the audience isn't that big to start with.

That’s exactly my point… it’s reminiscent of theater and vaudeville… fairy shows.
For my money it has no place in hard rock and metal. This space is supposed to be unsophisticated and anti-establishment.

KISS stopped doing it by the '80s. Then brought it back for the reunion tour. You know, because it's part of the show.

I understand where you’re coming from, but tickets for >$100 and more sound & lighting cues than a Broadway production already takes out most of the ‘metal’

I never really considered it, but now I LOVE IT.
What's stupid is the encore crap. We all know you didn't play your biggest hit. We all know you're coming back out to do so. Just skip the bullshit and we can all go home earlier.

Besides, they had brought out keys, a horn section, chicks singing backup and covered Bob Dylan reggae style by 1992. That’s all way more unmetal than taking a f*cking bow.

Axl Rose will be a senior citizen four years. In the next 6-7 years, the rest of the original members will be as well.
You're required to start a petition to share your disappointment so the band's know and will change this shocking behavior.
Metal Mike started one for the Motley '94 Box Set, and look at the impact it's made. Just get 100,000 signatures and you'll have Axl's attention... no problem!

I’m halfway out of the arena in time for band has concluded their show. Fuck waiting for a crowd to leave the venue.

Yep. From drum riser from roadie taking shot for IG and other social media.
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.
