NIRVANA's In Utero 30th anniversary

Post by SexxAtraxxion »

https://consequence.net/2023/09/nirvana ... y-reissue/
A deluxe reissue of Nirvana’s In Utero will be released on October 27th, 2023 to coincide with the album’s 30th anniversary.

The expanded tracklist boasts 53 previously unreleased tracks, including two complete In Utero-era concerts: a 1993 performance in Los Angeles and their final Seattle concert in 1994. There are also six bonus live tracks taken from shows in Rome, Springfield, and New York. All of the live material was reconstructed from soundboard tapes by engineer Jack Endino.

The reissue also boasts the album’s 12 original songs and five bonus tracks and B-sides, all of which have been newly remastered from the original analog master stereo tapes by Bob Weston.

The 30th anniversary edition of In Utero will be available in a variety of formats, including as a limited-edition 8xLP Super Deluxe box set, a 5xCD Super Deluxe box set, a 2xCD Deluxe edition, a 1xLP vinyl edition, and a digital Super Deluxe edition. The physical Super Deluxe Edition box sets also boast a removable front-cover acrylic panel with the album’s iconic Angel; a 48-page hardcover book with unreleased photos; a 20-page newly designed fanzine; a Los Angeles tour poster lithograph by hot rod artist Coop; replicas of the 1993 record store promo Angel mobile, three gig fliers, two ticket stubs for Los Angeles and Seattle, an All-Access tour laminate, and four cloth sticky tour backstage passes: Press, Photo, After Show, and Local Crew. Pre-orders are are now ongoing.

Nirvana’s In Utero was previously reissued in 2013 to coincide with its 20th anniversary. That version included a new stereo mix from producer Steve Albini, B-Sides, demos, and other outtakes, and a recording of the band’s 1993 Live and Loud concert.

Albini recently opened up about the lengths he and the band went to keep the album’s recording sessions a secret.

Moist Vagina looks good on paper, but it's one of the dumbest/worst songs ever recorded. On par with Brandon.

A shame they're not putting out official versions of shows, the Muddy Banks of Wishkah is a poor collage of various shows and the Live in Reading release cut out all of the banter.

Internet Archives does a better job at keeping their legacy alive:

IMO their best album, but none of the bonus material is worth getting excited over.

I’d rather listen to Wild Boyz on a loop than listen to a minute of this shit.

Speaking of Courtney . . . did SHE greenlight this?

Kinda has a well-deserved reputation for keeping Nirvana music away from the fans.

I dont want to be an old fuddy duddy, I bought this album back in the day, and remember liking some of it, but my drummer put it on on a road trip and I couldnt stand it. I used to think ther were #2 of the grunge big 4, but now i'd put them at 4.

I absolutely loved it as a kid. Has not aged well at all. Could barely make it through most songs.

I’d put Foos at #3, Pearl Jam at #4 and Nirvana at #5. Dave is a way better songwriter and singer than Kurt.

Same. Never heard any Nirvana album all the way through. Always hated the singles so why bother.

I like a couple of the songs but imagine how many people who will buy this but probably don't own 'Something Else' by The Kinks or whatever vastly superior. Go buy that instead!

I think the unknown story re blowbrains' death was that this album tanked and he didn't know what to do next.
