Re: Underrated riffs
There’s also a great lick in the solo around the 2:32 mark that has always seemed supremely badass, to me.

Re: Underrated riffs
Just seeing Megadeth mentioned immediately made me think of the main riff to “Train Of Consequences”

Re: Underrated riffs
Black Star Rising by Bodine has the best Sabbath riff not written or played by Tony Iommi. It's also the only good song on the album.
Re: Underrated riffs
Ty Tabor of King`s X is my favourite riff writer since the days Iommi, Page and Blackmore. Some of the good ones by him include Fall On Me, Over My Head, It's Love, Fine Art of Friendship, Prisoner (esp, chorus riff), Lost in Germany etc. These are classic but even the lates releases have some great ones.
It's debatable if Kings`X are underrated of course. They seem one of the most respected band among musicians, but commercially they are nowhere near where they could be. And the riffs are underrated in a sense that they are not that often mentioned.

Re: Underrated riffs
The opening riffs of Haunting the Chapel and Jesus Saves (Slayerrrrrrrrrr) are fucking awesome...
Riffs in Lucretia and Leper Messiah are also killer, those tunes aren't played live nearly enough...

Re: Underrated riffs
Uncle toms cabin, killer riff after intro and verse, get the blood flowing and psyches you up when chucking weights.
You could be mine - sick verse riff, intro really sets the tone and then.. bam! Sick song to skull crush to.
Also live version of nightrain, the chorus riff rocks.
