Had to Google after hearing the name. I was pretty sure they must be Finnish and they were. Never heard of them otherwise, even the name.

Hozier has more than that one song? Wow.
I've listenened to a few of the names that I hadn't heard of, the only one so far that holds any interest is Crypta. I have the new Ash album but haven't played it yet. Not sure that I've bought anything else this year that was released this year except This New Noise by Public Service Broadcasting and Voivod's re-recordings of old songs, Morgoth Tales.

The Hives "Death of Randy Fitzsimmons" is hands down my favorite 2023 release (so far). Need a few more listens for the new Stones and new Gaslight Anthem, but they sounded solid to good.

There's still a month to go.

These Spotify Wrapped-style lists that skip an entire month favor albums released earlier in the year, and there's a lot that just came out that deserves another month to digest.

So just relax... January will be here in 29 days.

I'm triggered that you used triggered but I don't give a shit that you like Jimmy Buffett. That's fine by me. He seemed like a fun guy. You do you, as the kids say.

That's probably my vote too. The band really sounds great here and they had a good year of touring as well. It's a very serious record. Pretty heavy and super tight arrangements. When I first heard "It All Comes Back Around" I liked it but didn't quite get it. It's the final song on the record. And when you listen to the record from start to finish it's the perfect ending. Give it a shot!

Honorable mentions:
Heaven's Edge
Mike Tramp Songs of White Lion (just because)
Tempt (more of a pop record than the debut but still very good and classy)

Been holding off on the new Stones record and Matchbox Twenty too but going to give them a listen this weekend!
I never listened to them back in the day but that Heavens Edge record is really good.

Nonpoint - Heartless (e.p.)

I can't think of anything else. I wanted to include Sevendust "Truth Killer" and Electric Boys "Grand Explosivos", but IMO both of those were huge disappointments. Same with Caivano.

Butcher Babies "...Til the World's Blind" and "Eye for an Eye" are okay.....but still are both a step down from the prior release.
