Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
Poison grabs warrant and skid row or other 2 or 3 bands with a good following and they do great numbers in the sheds! this is the perfect summer to do it and be the only 80s rock package in the sheds. 99-03 did great numbers with much more competition.

the 1 band that would fit close enough they didn't take out 99-03 or since when they headline is Tesla that would be a good band in support or direct support before Poison. I know Tesla opened for def lep and poison years ago but they would work well.

post here if reconsidered and did the right thing with poison in sheds with 80s bands or if bret unfortunately does "pardi gras" again with support band instead of night ranger. if bret took out warrant, skid row, tesla i'd go and see bret's nonsense set as it may be as 80s rock concert other than the summer stadium tour but journey definitely don't think of the way i do these other bands as they more aor
Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
Let's see....associate your brand with ICONIC bands who are, and will always be ICONIC bands, or associate your brand with a niche genre that's been circling the toilet with non orignal members for a few years? BTW, Tesla is doing theaters next year and will put on a MUCH better headlining show that you'll get touring w/ Bret.

Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
More competition???? Every single band who has ever put an album out, or thought about putting one out has been on tour the last few years
Poison is smart only touring every decade our so. If they toured every year, they'd probably be in large clubs.
I do remember Bret saying there were planning a huge Poison world tour in 2025 though.

As far as Pardi-Gras, IMO, if Bert dropped (geriatric) Starship, Sugar Ray guy and Journey scab, there wouldn't have been a single loss as far as ticket sales.
It must be frustrating for the other guys in Poison (especially Rikki Rockett) that Berts incessant man-whoring has essentially dictated/sidelined their career's.

Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
I started to form an opinion, but then thought… who the fuck cares??? I wouldn’t go to any of them anyway. Sure I like the songs, but that’s what Spotify is for.
These 80s bands tours are funerals. How many times can you watch Poison or Def Leppard or Tesla or Tom Keiffer croak out worse and worse renditions of the same tired old songs over and over and over???
As a general rule, don’t go see bands with any members who color their hair… or who wear Debbie Gibson hats. (Lookin’ at you Joe Elliott)

I don't think you guys understand how little money the shows would make and how depressing it would be to play these tiny ballrooms and casinos and watch fans leave in droves when they see that Bert isn't there.
From the business side of things, Bret IS Poison.
If Rikki, CC, and Bobby wanted to play for the sake of playing, they'd do side projects or more one-off Special Guests shows at M3 or MORC with built-in crowds.
But they don't - they're not getting off the couch unless it's for a big $$$ Poison tour.

Didn't see dee snider. it's a one off. wishe a tour w/warrant and firehouse with poison though even bret i'd go. he has called every show "pardi gras 23" since the 12 shows that were.

Apologies Hootchietoad- Looks like 1 date of a live nation tour announced. no poison like we all thought. so dee snider i take it do MC and sing 2 biggest songs. so is firehouse and warrant doiing 30 and 45 minute sets or whatever or how are they going to do this, looks like some kind of tour. bret w/warrant and firehouse if was a normal tour, w/poison great shed numbers but i guess see what this is.

Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
What would you consider “great shed numbers”? Firehouse and Warrant are not huge draws, or at very least don’t add to the draw as their audience is the exact same as Poison’s. Poison hasn’t been a headliner in years (for a reason), and while absence does make the heart grow fonder, I couldn’t see big crowds coming out for this without massive incentives a la $9.85 lawn tickets, Groupon, etc. Live Nation only really cares about selling parking spots, t-shirts, and beer… so all of this is fine, but you’re overlooking something, or maybe you just aren’t aware….thunderdan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:25 pm Apologies Hootchietoad- Looks like 1 date of a live nation tour announced. no poison like we all thought. so dee snider i take it do MC and sing 2 biggest songs. so is firehouse and warrant doiing 30 and 45 minute sets or whatever or how are they going to do this, looks like some kind of tour. bret w/warrant and firehouse if was a normal tour, w/poison great shed numbers but i guess see what this is.
The guys in Poison are not on good terms with each other. Bret has placed himself above the band, and the others really resent it. For the last decade, when they have toured, Bret has his own bus, stays in different hotels than the rest of the guys, and there’s really not much group interaction other than on stage. The others would surely do it for the money, but why would Bret? He’s likely sick of the awkwardness and can do just as well on his own.

Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
i saw a picture for tour or show, says all the hits and has bret's 8 (minus sweet home he plays) then warrant and firehouse hits. don't think can go w/out a full opening set by warrant like night ranger if they do the long set switching off. bret and warrant and firehouse be good tour though wish poison. they only announced 1 show. how many shows live nation going to let them tour with, only 12, not full tour last year. how many live nation shows they'll sign off on, a full tour?
Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
Um...do Warrant and Firehouse have five "hits" combined?

warrant-downboys, heaven, cherry pie, uncle toms cabin, i saw red big 5. sometimes she cries call it 6.
firehouse-just the 2 agreed.
the photo for the tour i can't find now but i saw last night it lists the songs around a square with all the hit songs to be played. someone post if you find it as i gotta run but saw it last night also w/2 twisted hits too. hoping warrant gets 45 minute opening set like night ranger did if tour comes down here if full tour.

Re: Everyone on Sludge agrees, 2024 Poison not Bret!
Point taken on Bert’s popularity. But plenty of bands have replaced their singers in the past and been fine. From Deep Purple and Sabbath to Van Halen. Then if you think about bands like Journey, Foreigner, Autograph, Quiet Riot, Warrant, and Great White. It’s very doable.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:52 am I don't think you guys understand how little money the shows would make and how depressing it would be to play these tiny ballrooms and casinos and watch fans leave in droves when they see that Bert isn't there.

I’ve seen Journey multiple times over the last 24-25 years with two different singers. I’ve seen them in sheds, casinos and different sized arenas. Sometimes the crowds were sold out and sometimes they were sparse. They haven’t done any worse than Def Leppard who I’ve seen about the same amount in the same type of venues. I saw DL on the Euphoria tour at a small outdoor venue and it was absolutely pathetic. It was very depressing. Several years later I saw them on the Sparkle Lounge tour in a sold out arena.
Had Poison replaced Bert 15-20 years ago with Ralph or our very own CEO, some other known Sunset Strip guy worth his salt or some new kid off of YouTube they would’ve been fine. I like and appreciate Bert but he’s established a pattern of putting himself above the band ever since the reunion.

No way would any Poison show be as good without Bert. Nowhere near jam-packed. Limp-dicked, maybe.

It's just too late in the game to make a switch, and it's a total crapshoot - for every one Arnel Pineda there's a hundred replacement singers that totally flop.
You guys remember when Queensryche played some shows with the new singer under a different name while Tate was still in the band? And when it went well, they fired Tate and brought the new guy in officially.
That's more-or-less what the Poison guys were doing with another singer as The Special Guests - seeing if they could pull it off.
For whatever reason, they decided they couldn't.
