Oh shit! Good call, I saw Johnny Winter in 2008-ish when he was nearing the end. He was in rough shape, but his band was great and it was a cool show.Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 7:46 pmLitaStrauss wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 7:07 pm Prince

Two highlights:
- When they bought him out he was obv borderline blind and someone tried to lead him to his chair and then lte him go and he totally missed the chair and was about 3 feet from turbo-biffing off the front of the stage when someone grabbed him.
- His amp started smoking during Red House (can't make this up) and he was clueless and had no idea. Meanwhile, his techs were going crazy trying to fix it. Seeing him just continuing to go to town having zero clue his amp was smoking was classic.

Eddie Van Halen (cancer)
James Kottak (alcohol)
Pat Torpey (Parkinson's)
Marcel Jacob (suicide)
Neal Peart (cancer)
Allan Holdsworth (cancer)
Alan White (cancer)
Chris Squire (cancer)
Kevin Gilbert (accidental suicide)
Mike Porcaro (ALS)
Chris Arduser (alcohol)
David Crosby (COVID?)
Jeffrey Foskett (cancer)
Lyle Mays (cancer)
Mark Ledford (cancer)
T Lavitz (who apparently had some bad habits)
There are probably a few more that I am not remembering, but given all the concerts seen, I'm a bit surprised that so few have passed. This is especially true since I saw so many metal players in the late 80s and 1990s.
