Pissed off at a business that fucked u over during the year? It's the perfect time to take a shit on them right at the end of the year by leaving a negative Yelp review!

They will be surprised when they open back up on January 2 and see a buncha negative Yelp reviews for their business!

Nobody cares about Yelp anymore.

Even among the review sites, that one is the least important. People get "compensated" to leave reviews as well -- even being given the verbatim review to just copy and paste -- so it's hard to put much stock in review sites unless it's somebody you personally know. Long, long ago in a previous corporate life, that was a common practice.

Instead of wasting your time on reviews, invest in the publicly traded companies. I own at least one share of every publicly traded casino in Las Vegas. You can contact investor relations and while they aren't legally obligated to respond to every email about stupid shit that's probably your fault, the very few issues I've had in the past when you are a shareholder get resolved very quickly this way, instead of Yelping or speaking to tHe_mAnAgEr (who doesn't care either).

All this is true, but the businesses do care (or they should) because although most people realize Yelp is a huge joke, it still has major SEO juice. So when people search for businesses, all their Yelp shit comes up in the first few search results. When gullible/not-in-the-know would-be customers click those links, it can still make a bigger impact than people realize.

Also, people who purposely slam businesses on Yelp, especially in a calculated effort at the end/beginning of the year... unnecessary dick move.
