Warrant for me. Great White has some great songs, but overall their catalog doesn't come close to touching the 1-2 punch of DRFSR and Cherry Pie.

Agreed. Doesn't seem like much of a "battle". Even among the country and questionable hard rock and nu-metal I listen to, Warrant is actually in my Top 50 of all-time on LastFM (#43).
From that era, it's Van Halen, Motley, GNR, Warrant, and Winger in my Top 5.

Great White’s Once Bitten album alone is better than anything Warrant ever put out, for my ears.
That said, I don’t loathe Warrant the way I used to…but that song, “Cherry Pie”, is abysmal.

I'm stunned but also pleasantly surprised this isn't a poison vs. Warrant poll!
I love the great white debut, and then several songs after that.
But I like the first 3 warrant albums, and just overall more of their songs.

I really like both, but IMO Warrant has a stronger catalog. The 1st 4 albums are great (DRFSR, Cherry Pie, Dog Eat Dog, Ultraphobic). For me there are no "essential" Great White albums.

Great White has 1 great album (debut)
Warrant has zero.
Great White wins 1-0, no need for penalty kicks.

Pick any song off of those first three Warrant albums, and it’s better than anything Great White ever did.

Is "neither" an option?
GW may have a few more good songs but sucked live.
Never saw Warrant because Jani had an accident and they were replaced by Don Patrol as openers for DLR.

Love both bands, but chose Great White as they have a stronger catalog of music in my book: "Shot in the Dark", "Once Bitten", "Twice Shy", "Hooked", "Psycho City", "Let it Rock", and "Sail Away" are essential; whereas Warrant just has the three: "DRFSR", "Cherry Pie", and "Dog Eat Dog".

This poll reminds me of that odd period when Jani Lane was filling in for Jack Russell and Great White opened for scab Warrant.

Yeah. I think he was doing a mini acoustic set of Warrant songs in the middle of those shows too.

The Great White debut doesn't even make top 5 of their catalog. Moving in a more faux blues/accessible direction, was the smartest thing they could have done.

Re: Battle of the bands … Warrant vs Great White
TBH, I have never purchased a Great White album, but the songs I’ve heard off odd “Once Bitten” have the cleanest, bassiest production known to man. It absolutely SLAMS on great set of speakers/headphones.
Warrant to me had better songs all the way around. Plus, they were awesome live in their day. Always felt Uncle Tom’s Cabin really set them apart. That song was uniquely different in an era of flash,

I'm actually surprised how lopsided this is. I like Great White better, but enjoy both bands.

Same here. Warrant was replaced by Boycott (Finnish band) here, hugely disappointing.Love_Industry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 5:31 am

Still it's Warrant for me, by far.
