Getting booted out of a concert by security
How many times, if any, have you been booted out of a show by band/venue security?

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
Yes for being underage. My friend's dad builds sets on Broadway play sets, so he had a union hookup for a 50 years of rock 2-night concert at NYC's Roseland Ballroom. We walk in, look around, not even a chance to THINK about getting a beer or anything for that matter, and some guy kicks us out. We end up on the side of the building and were thinking of our next moves. We had to wait until nearly midnight for a ride back to Jersey from my friend's dad. Next thing we know Lenny Kravitz's roadie says "don't just stand there, make yourselves useful" and makes us load out some Moogs or pedal shit the band was using So that happens, back to dicking around. James Brown walks by (a tiny, shiny man). I did/do like his music, so I asked if I can have an autograph and he goes, "How about a handshake instead?". I took him up on the offer. So that was cool, but it gets cooler.
Next Slash walks by and I'm basically peaking on my GnR fandom, loved the Illusions, Appetite, Lies - everything. I am a chickenshit so took me a minute to get the nerve to say anything. We say "what's up Slash"... was a nice guy, signed a dollar bill (the only signable thing I have on me cause I didn't expect this). His manager or someone with him commented that my dollar was devalued from him signing it.
Night 2 - DO NOT GET KICKED OUT. The guy my friend's dad knew said we could sit up in the DJ booth and better stay out of fuckin trouble. I think "famed" Ramones roadie/pinhead was there as well. From what I can remember, Ben Folds opened up (not a fan, only remember he played some of Free Bird), next The Strokes played a set, Cheap Trick, and then Velvet Revolver. Alice Cooper played a song with Cheap Trick, Rick/Robin Zander played Surrender with Cheap Trick, they played I Wanna Be Sedated (Johnny Ramone had just passed from what I remember). So turned out to be a sick experience.
I haven't really thought to look anything up about it but here is a fanboy review from some Velvet Revolver site and the press release:

So many times, but a few that come to mind…
Alice in Chains - crowd surfing
Metallica - crowd surfing
Poison - actin’ the fool and wrasslin’ cops
I was a bit of a handful back then. 🫤 Shows were just wild parties to the boys and me.
And I got tossed from more sporting events, clubs and bars than I can honestly remember.

Got kicked out of Yankee Stadium by High Pitch Eric from the Howard Stern Show. He was working security at the Hard Rock Cafe in the Stadium.
Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
I was getting pulled out of the crowd after a fight broke out at a GNR show in 88. I was not involved but it was a pretty big fight. As I’m getting pulled over the barrier, some jackass tries to punch me in the nuts. He misses and catches my thigh. He looked up like “oh shit” and I kicked right in the mouth. I got let back into the show too. Never saw the guy again.

Oh right one more. I got kicked out of Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ because I decided that bringing my own tall boys into the venue was cheaper than buying beer in the venue. Thought I was real smooth, but definitely was not. Lame story, but I got kicked out that's for sure.

Once
Summer 1996 or 1997. During big Ratt tour as 4 piece.
Played State theatre in Detroit- now Fillmore.
During last 2-3 songs we were in crowd about 15-20 feet from stage. I gave my wallet a o buddy to hold. Told friends I want to go up. I was crowd surfing upside down and then saw Robbie Crane and Warren getting closer and closer. Then boom. I flip backwards. Caught by security. Quickly taken to side door and thrown out. I laughed as no big deal. 2 min later a large guy gets thrown out. He punches security hard in face as they throw him out.
I met friends at entrance. I had several cocktails that night.
Went to get food afterwards at Denny’s.

I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Never kicked out of a concert. Only a couple of times at bars/clubs for being too drunk.

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
Same for me. I always thought you had to be a real idiot to get chucked out of a concert. To spend a pile of cash on a ticket and be too wasted to remember the show ? So stupid. Bar / Club shows on the other hand…. Too often to count.

Taking a piss during a Rainbow (scab late version of course) show at a club called Totos in Chicago suburbs. Fight breaks out. Everyone in the bathroom gets kicked out. Just trying to relieve myself.

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
Never thrown out of a concert ….
However I coached my son’s travel baseball team for 8 years and I coached his travel basketball team for 6 years ….
And I got thrown out of more games as a coach than I can count….. I also was a basketball referee for 5 years . I know my rules and when the basketball ref and the baseball umpire didn’t know their stuff, I would let them know as “ respectfully “ as I could… unfortunately when they got put in their place they had no option other than to toss me because they just got embarrassed for not knowing their stuff …not my fault too many incompetent umps and refs out there !!!!

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
Once. Michael Schenker Group at Toad's Place Club in New Haven, CT in Fall 1989. Had gone up to the roof of the club with a friend as I was under 21 at the time. We had audio a little bit of visual access from a skylight. Unfortunately, when stepping only the roof from the next building, my foot hit a weak spot in the roof where I thought it was just leaves. My foot penetrated the roof, and a little drip started at the corner of the stage, right only the side stage mixing board. Apparently this went on for several songs and then was noticed so they send several huge Italian-American security goons up to the roof. They found us, and they found mud on my shoe. I was escorted past the stage (Schenker was in middle of Lost Horizons by then), and taken up to an office. The surely-mob-connected club manager got info and thankfully asked that I pay for repairs. I kept waiting for some kind of bill, but it didn't come for a long, long time . . . over a year. By that time, I knew they had long fixed it. So I let it go waiting for a follow-up, intending to pay when there was a follow-up. But that never came. Later, after turning 21, I saw a number of shows there, always thankful that I wasn't recognized. Those shows included:
- Kansas
Adrian Belew
Allan Holdsworth
Blue Murder
Drivin' N Cryin'
Dan Reed Network
Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys
Badlands
Steve Morse & Dixie Dregs reunion

Never happened to me in my life.... ever...
And anyone who is booted, or was... likely earned it.
Same applies to any kind of public event, a sporting event, casino, restaurant or other.

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
Never was booted out. The closest I came was at The Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana. It was mid 90's and Cheap Trick was playing. They made an announcement that photography was fine as long as you didn't use flash. I was taking a few photos (without flash) when I saw Rick giving me the stink eye from the stage. A few minutes later I was being strong armed robbed by the dickhead security people. They seemed to think they could take my property from me. I explained to the dumb apes section 211 of the California Penal Code. After a brief stand-off, it became apparent my options were 1) Giving them the floppy disk containing the photos (Yes I said floppy disk). 2) Leave with the disk but miss the show. or 3) Start kicking them in the nuts and punching them in the throat, get arrested, wreck my life. I chose option 1. But I was so pissed off at the experience we left early anyway. And that was the last time I went to The Galaxy Theater.

Judas Priest - 3/1/1998 - Universal Amphitheatre. 3rd song in a friend pulls a joint out of his shoe and lights up. Security was on us QUICK. They told us we would have to leave the concert for "smoking marijuana". I said "it's a Judas Priest concert everyone is smoking" & security said "well I saw you guys smoking."

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security
I saw quite a few get the boot Friday night from a TOOL show. There was plenty of warning about no filming/no picture taking with your phone. Several announcements over the PA and Maynard said it early in the show inbetween songs. Some folks didn’t get the memo.
