Are Dangerous Toys, Danger Danger and Trickster the same band?

Post by HueyRamone »

I think they all had some kind of evil clown image?

Are they the same band?

If they are 3 different bands, what would you say is different about them? Is one heavier, or maybe more ACDC-inspired than the others?

Yes all same band
All inspired from Lillian Axe
Nobody is inspired from AC DC - they all think Back In Black is overrated garbage like i do

Cheerleader Metal is the best all cheerleaders loved them
Who doesn’t love Best Of Friends 📣 Bang Bang 📣 Road Of A Thousand Dreams 📣
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Dangerous Toys sucked.

Danger Danger had solid guitar work from Tony Rey and then Andy Timmons.

Trixter was cheesy pop metal.

I'd probably put Trixter first. Dangerous Toys would ne a very distant third.

You guys are smoking crack.....

The first 3 Dangerous Toys CD's are all solid.

Danger Danger debut is 2 great singles rounded out with a glut of limp wristed filler. 2nd CD "Screw It" it a dumpster fire and did more to kill the Sludge bands than Nirvava.

Trixter debut is one good song, 2nd CD was a little better.

In hindsight there was no reason for Truxter or Danger Danger to be signed, they brought nothing to the scene.

Dangerous Toys > Trixter > Danger Danger

Dangerous Toys were sleazy, garage rock.

Trixter's first album sounded like it was recorded in a garage.

Danger Danger were very produced. That first record was equal parts hard rock and Survivor/Journey-type AOR rock.

After the debut records...
Dangerous Toys 2nd album was a letdown and I stopped listening after that.
Trixter "Hear" is actually great. Very strong and well produced. The cover EP was unnecessary. Their 2 comeback albums are strong for what they are but it's a different band.
Danger Danger have the best discography (except for the Dawn album where they went grunge). These guys really should've had more hits.

Only know the first album from each of these bands.

They rank as follows:

Dangerous Toys > Danger Danger > Trixter.

Dangerous Toys sounds nothing like the other two. The other two are definitely more poppy sounding. Trixter being even more limp wristed. Dangerous Toys is more sleazy sounding. Like faster pussycat and la guns.

One of the things I love about this place. And for the record, the answer is no. Dangerous Toys were waaaaaaay sleazier than Danger Danger or Trixter. D2 and Trixter had their sleazy come-ons about every other song or so while still managing to keep it melodic (though Screw It! did have a lot more sleaze than D2's debut). Dangerous Toys were more street metal sleaze. That's the type of hair metal that begets stuff like "Sport'n a Woody" more than what the other two put out.

Pretty much this. Also, Dangerous Toys were a way too obvious GnR ripoff. Junkyard and even Sea Hags did the GnR ripoff thing better IMO.

No. The Dangerous Toys debut is better than both the junkyard and sea hags debut.

I've never listened to an entire Dangerous Toys, Danger Danger or Trickster album in my life.

BUT, I've seen Jetboy, Venrez and Hookers 'n' Blow in concert!

Yes, and you're proof of it.

-Rey and Timmons are light years ahead of DT's guitar players, whose names are not even worth mentioning
-Poley is a better singer than McMaster
-D2 has a much better discography
-"Slipped Her The Big One" is better than "Sportin' A Woody"

Danger Danger are easily the best of the three. Their first three albums are great. If you haven't heard their 3rd album, do yourself a favor and give Cockroach a listen. There are two versions, I prefer the Ted Poley version over the Paul Laine version.
