Last ”rock” song to reach # 1 on Billboard Hot 100
Was Nickelback’s ”How You Remind Me” in 2001!

No worries. Would have been crazier if that was the last rock song to even make it into the top 100!

It stretches the definition of rock, but "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals went to #1 in 2022.
They're described as a "British indie rock band" by Wikipedia.

We can put our own rule and set the definition for ”rock” as a band that has been mentioned at least once in the past on Metal Sludge.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:15 pm It stretches the definition of rock, but "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals went to #1 in 2022.

I'm willing to bend pretty far to what young people doing what they want with music, but this is flat out pop music. It not far from Katy Perry/Taylor Swift. Not rock by any stretch.

I believe... even though a ballad... "Lips Of An Angel" by Hinder was the last rock song to hit #1 on the billboard charts.

I've looked at the rock radio charts on Billboard, and a good chunk of the entries border on synth pop.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2024 7:02 amjust listened.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:15 pm It stretches the definition of rock, but "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals went to #1 in 2022.

Sade's most recent album went to #1 in the charts, so there's a good showing for this Rock Hall of Famer nominee....

Not really surprising. How many actual "Rock" songs have gone #1.....Ever
Before Nickelback, It might have been Mr Big in the early 90's.
The heaviest song to ever get close was probably Linkin Park's In the End which went to #2
