Not Butch Walker. He found a pot of gold after Southgang disbanded.

Warren DiMartini, Vito Bratta, the guy from Roxy Blue who is a dentist now.

Who else quit their bands and lived happily ever after?

Bobby Gillespie quit as Jesus And Mary Chain's drummer and continued successfully with Primal Scream as a singer. Peter Gabriel did well after leaving Genesis. Karl Wallinger left The Waterboys and has done pretty well as World Party.

“It was nice to see ‘em, but I wouldn’t wanna be ‘em.”

- Izzy Stradlin, after returning to Guns N’ Roses for a few European tour dates (while Gilby Clarke was recuperating from a broken wrist after a motorcycle accident).

Izzy already mentioned, but neither Slash nor Duff seem to have regretted quitting GN’R and both went back on their own terms.

John Frusciante and Zack de la Rocha both quit their bands multiple times and came back on their own terms. Maybe John regretted it the first time but doesn’t seem like he did the second time around.

Did Ozzy regret quitting Sabbath? Don’t even recall if he was fired or quit. Either way he sure had a soft landing.

Andy has returned to the band 2 or 3 times, though.

That Thunder album of his is quite good, regardless.

I came back to say this.

I’m not sure that Tate has much remorse about leaving, either.

Another one I’ll add is Peter Hayes quitting Brian Jonestown Massacre before forming the much more successful Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Definitely hard to top that one. Interesting note...Steve Gaines, who eventually replaced him in Skynyrd, had the same birthday...month, day, and year. If he hadn't quit, chances are pretty good he'd have died in that plane crash too.

Mick Taylor. He said he would have died if he didn't leave the Stones. Drugs were being offered by people everywhere he turned and he was becoming an addict.

He was fired, but Ron McGovney has said he never regrets losing the Metallica gig to Cliff.

ALl things considered, I'd say Chris DeGarmo has no regrets about leaving the clusterfuck that Queensryche became.

I bet Matt Barlow is glad he left Iced Earth.

yeah, right. I'm sure he loves cleaning pools while his band had a 40 year career as gods. (Although, he prolly doenst regret not being squashed by a bus)

Hetfield. Re: Mustaine and Ron: "(Mustaine)'s an amazing, talented person. Maybe just part of his character is having a chip on his shoulder. If I got kicked out of METALLICA, I would have one too. Ron McGovney, our first bass player — very big chip on his shoulder. They're never able to really be comfortable in the now, and that's tough to see. Lars did say that too in the interview: "Can't you see what you've done?" But none of that matters because he's chasing something unreachable."

Bernie Leadon.

There would be a subcategory of bunch of guys who just had so much fuck you money and residuals coming in that they didn’t care.

Plus, pouring a beer over Glenn “Cunt” Frey’s head must have been so worth it.
