Gers wrote some superb riffs in Gillan, such as Restless and Nightmare, really quality songs. He cant do it in maiden because they are hacks and also not rock music.

There was a guitarist called Berbie Tormé who was in Gillan before him, and he was also very good.

Way better than his performances on maiden records, I think he’s a great classic rock player but not metal.
