Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Re: So SLAYER is back?
I had a feeling this would happen once I heard the first song from Kerry's upcoming album. It sounds just like Slayer.
It happened faster than I thought, though.

What a bizarre situation. Did Tom decide, "well, if Kerry and Paul are playing, I might as well get paid, too."? Makes me wonder if they'll stick to Slayer for festivals after this to get a bigger payday, and Kerry will do touring with his solo band.

Boredom builds up over time.
Tom wanted to spend more time with his wife and kids. After 5 years, he's probably sick of them.

Re: So SLAYER is back?
Well, sure, it's just weird to have this announced RIGHT after Kerry finally got his solo thing going.

Re: So SLAYER is back?
Yeah I wish Kerry had gotten of his ass and done it sooner. I like the new song and am looking forward to the album. 2 Slayer shows shouldn't impact much, but it will likely snowball into a full tour and new album. Not that it would be bad, but we could have had both. KK's band will likely be on the back burner now.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:55 amWell, sure, it's just weird to have this announced RIGHT after Kerry finally got his solo thing going.

It reminds of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Robert Plant had no interest in reuniting with Jimmy Page until the whole Coverdale / Page thing happened and then he felt threatened. The next thing you know we have Page/Plant.

So it's not a one-off, but a two-off. Gotcha.

Gary Holt has got to be happy though. Should be two nice little paychecks for him, and maybe more in the future.HueyRamone wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:23 amYeah, all the guys who just finished that album and were excited to go on tour and make money are prolly all now like ".........fuck."

Re: So SLAYER is back?
I imagine that since they are broken up, Danny Wimmer threw more money at them to do these festivals than they ever imagined making doing Slayer, so they jumped at it for the money - which I honestly don't blame them one bit.

Re: So SLAYER is back?
I called this in the other thread: Kerry was in for a rude awakening trying to take a solo project on the road.
No way he'd keep all those talented guys on the road together paying them Kerry King Band wages.
Occasional Slayer-sized cash infusions will help.
Just read this in the blabbermouth comments: "Retiredless"

Re: So SLAYER is back?
It's only 2 shows for now but you know the tour is coming. I bet "Pantera's" farce convinced Tom that people will pay to watch you fuck the sinful corpse of whatever was cool about your band in the first place.
Re: So SLAYER is back?
Strange turn of events indeed. Especially w what Kerry has stated just a week ago. Can't imagine they were in talks then.....but wtf do I know?Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:37 am What a bizarre situation. Re: So SLAYER is back?
Great news!
I will be at the Chicago show
Hopefully soon they will schedule a full Slayer tour with KK's band as the opener

Re: So SLAYER is back?
Right, but how can I achieve my lifelong dream of dying in the pit during the last ever performance of Angel of Death if my last thoughts will be laying there, clinging to life, and instead of being proud of my achievement, this little voice in my head will start doubting whether this is actually the last show?
Re: So SLAYER is back?
Look, covid inflation hit and guess what?
That money is burning quick!
These guys are no different than Kiss, Motley, etc............
5 years is a LONG time in the rock world - Its not going to be that good.................

That's the great thing about having a hard core fan base who worships the logo, it doesn't have to be.

Re: So SLAYER is back?
This makes me sad for some reason
Kind of hoped Slayer would show all the other retirement return bands that they were the real deal
I respected Slayer. Not so much any more
They could've just as easily taken a 5 year break and come back. More respect for that than getting lumped in with kiss, crue etc
Tarnishing their legacy. Of course the last 5 records did that already so what am I talking about

Alright, so it needs to be pointed out tht Slayer never said the Farewell tour was the end of them playing live, they were very open about the fact that it was just the last true "tour".Stinky McFister wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 8:26 pm This makes me sad for some reason

But the final show of the Farewell Tour was called ”The Final Show” everywhere.aznsquirt wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:24 pmAlright, so it needs to be pointed out tht Slayer never said the Farewell tour was the end of them playing live, they were very open about the fact that it was just the last true "tour".Stinky McFister wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 8:26 pm This makes me sad for some reason

It might not hold in court but has it come to that? Are fans supposed to hire lawyers to go through farewell tour-specifics? All these bands have used ”Farewell” as a way to get the fans throwing money at them for, what the fans believed, was ”one last time”.
Now ”untouchable” Slayer showed how ”true” they are…
Re: So SLAYER is back?
That's the problem with the "farewell" tag. It raises the ticket prices, and fans are willing to pay those amounts because they believe it's the last time they will see them.Zinny wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:29 pm But the final show of the Farewell Tour was called ”The Final Show” everywhere.

Re: So SLAYER is back?
Well even in the recent Kerry King interview he said he could see it happening for selected shows. It was right there but everyone got stuck on the ‘He hates the drummer’ and ‘He hasn’t talked to the singer in 5 years.” And there’s no reason for Kerry to speak to Tom until the first rehearsal.
