No way he'd keep all those talented guys on the road together paying them Kerry King Band wages.

Alright, so it needs to be pointed out tht Slayer never said the Farewell tour was the end of them playing live, they were very open about the fact that it was just the last true "tour".

But the final show of the Farewell Tour was called ”The Final Show” everywhere.
It might not hold in court but has it come to that? Are fans supposed to hire lawyers to go through farewell tour-specifics? All these bands have used ”Farewell” as a way to get the fans throwing money at them for, what the fans believed, was ”one last time”.
Now ”untouchable” Slayer showed how ”true” they are…

That's true. Using the term "very open" on my part isn't really true. They said so, but of course they didn't have a problem leaning into the "Farewell" portion of it all, and had no problem cashing checks knowing a lot of fans probably thought it was the last time.

I would say that Megadeth has sold more records, and Slayer has sold more concert tickets. When both bands are on the same bill, Slayer always plays later.

I remember when Megadeth has their first "comeback" tour in 2004ish, both Megadeth and Slayer played shows in November. Slayer played a 4500 capacity venue, sold out weeks in advance. Megadeth played a 2300 capacity venue, wasn't sold out.
