Law and Order - Rites of Passage

Post by Don't Damn Me »

Anybody hear this thing? Its their second album. They had some exposure on head bangers ball with the song "We don't see God" from the first album.
By the the second album in 92 they were in the pocket with what was happening, a mix of Black Crowes Rolling Stones and G&R but without the versatility of the latter two.
I got the CD as a promo when I worked at Tower Records in West covina. The band actually came in with their agent and their guitars and just started playing in the store very informal, no stage. But it was impressive.
It was the first five songs of this album I thought would have made a much better super powerful EP. Because after that they start to get pretentious and then repetitious. I still listen to those songs. Check them out:

Love, Love Love this album. First one was good, but played the hell out of this for a long time and still listen every once in awhile.

Was a more straight up rock band. Hair metal was hanging on by a small thread, grunge was taking over, this was exactly what I was looking for at that time.

Dawn over zero is fantastic. Best on the album, but I love it all.

The Truth about me sounds like it was taken right from one of the GnR Illusions albums

Can't say enough good things about these guys.

I have both albums. I thought the first one was better. Going to go give the second another listen after many many years and see if I like it now.

Yeah, you're right. The truth about me kind of sounds like bad obsession. Plus I think the singer sounds like Axl on why would you lie to yourself.

For me going hands in hand with this album was asphalt ballet debut which I actually love and prefer over this only because like I said the second half of rights of Passage never grew on me. Kick Tracy no rules great album and Mind Funk a weird dark album

Listened to first 5 songs and they were better than I remembered but I still prefer the first record (listening now)! Go listen to Soul Inside.

The singer and the drummer later formed an industrial band called Uranium 235.

I have that that CD too. I'll have to find it sometime and check it out
Like I said I worked at Tower records and we got promos, and a copy of Rites went into the in-store play rotation. So thats partly why I'm fond of it it brings back memories

The vocalist is annoying, and they would done better if they came out a few years later. They seemed to get lumped in with the hair bands, but IMO, stylistically they are more of 90' alternative band.

Great album! One of my favorites. I do like the debut, Guilty of Innocence just a bit better though.

Loved Uranium 235, great album and always put on a great show. After Uranium, Shane had a project called Jupiter After Death which was more early 80s electronic new wave depeche mode dead or alive (which they covered on the Uranium release) type sound.

after all that Law and Order released a third cd which was not really that good. I still ike their debut the best
