Question for Fellow Vinyl Geeks - Why do some artists omit key releases?

Sometimes I’m looking to spend money I don’t have on things I don’t need. Usually it’s vinyl albums, and I often notice that major artists have some albums on vinyl but not others, and I don’t understand why.

Random examples - Dream Theater you can’t get Images & Words, Awake, or Six Degrees. All arguably considered to be in their Top 5 releases. Tool you can’t get Aenima or 10,000 Days. AIC you can’t get Tripod (I have it, but, still).

I don’t get it. These are obvious income streams. It’s not like these are obscure albums that wouldn’t sell. There have been ample opportunities for albums like this to get the reissue treatment.

Any insight? Just curious why this is a thing. “Take my money!”

Maybe they don't own the masters and the company that owns them doesn't care. Sometimes they wait for a big anniversary to put out a package as well.

Yeah, I always assumed whoever owns the rights isn’t pressing them.
Which is why some artists release bootlegs

Sit tight a year, we'll for sure get an anniversary edition.
