i'm not sure who i'd take, love them both. who you got?

Liked aic, disliked stp

Love 'em both, but I prefer AIC.

AiC rules, STP drools.

AIC bores me, STP is easily in my top five favorite bands.

STP

Enjoyed both, but STP only sporadically. And they could be kind of bad when not on. In the original run, AIC was spectacular every time out except perhaps the S/T album, which still had some really good moments. And Jerry Cantrell's first two solo albums are as good as AIC, making that a very strong run. AIC isn't quite as good with William Duvall, but those albums are similar to STP's best.

STP hit a really nice stride with their second album, which was a purple patch. Third album really only and the Tripping song that was strong, and showed Scott's cracks. Fourth album was quite good and might be their second best. Like Layne, Scott had some real talent but squandered it. I like some of the dense guitar chords that Dean DeLeo would use for STP, but Cantrell was more consistently interesting in AIC. And AIC's rhythm section has always been leaps and bounds ahead of STP.

STP has like 3 good songs, AIC is consistent

1st 3 PJ albums are great.

Alice In Chains.

STP were mere imitators until they became their own thing, which was fine, but not as good.

AIC

STP are one of my favorite band so it's not even close.

I have great memory of STP Core tour at fair for free

I loved AIC but got bored of them by the late 90s. I heard Don't Follow on the radio yesterday and fell in love again. STP were never anything but corporate bandwagon jumpers.

Edited to add that yes I'm well aware of AIC's glam origins.

I like both, but STP more.

Love a lot of Alice, but I love ALL of STP. More diverse, More energetic love performances, better drummer, way cooler bass lines, much better guitar tones and parts.

But Alice has so many great songs… and they were really innovative…

AIC is a great band. STP just a good band.

AIC painfully bored me so much at the Hollywood Palladium in 1991 that I never got over it. Same for STP (1993), not boring but just terrible.

I like both, but STP never opened an album with three crushing songs like AIC did on Facelift

IMO, AIC came out with the stronger debut "Facelift", but stagnated after that......... STP has more songs that I still like.

STP > AIC

Love both but prefer STP.

Scott was such a great frontman live!

Love both but STP have aged better and have a wider variety of genres. AIC is very one note and depressing, I have to be in the mood

AIC is the better, more creative band.
But like the guy above said, it’s pretty one note.

I rarely want to be in that head space.

As far as AIC connected music, I’d choose Mad Season
