Saw KC and the Sunshine band a couple years ago. He obviously knew about his weight issue and made self deprecating jokes about it. AND he was actually sick that night but played on. It was one of the funnest , entertaining shows I had been to in a long time. His band and dancers were great and KC would dance with them, not missing a step. Singing 'Please Don't Go' even though he was sick made the song that much more soulful. There is something about an artist being vulnerable, yet still going out on stage and performing their heart out. I give him a lot of credit. Funny Side note: He said he might change the band name to 'KFC" and the Sunshine Band. A very cool performer.

i feel the same way about entertainers and those hot cheerleaders I went to school with. They had hot bodies and now most are way overweight old ladies.

In like 1997 I was staying at the Silver Legacy in Reno, NV and was several floors up, with a view of the street.

Towards the evening, I saw what I assumed was just a cover/party band set up and started playing.

I recognized the first couple of songs, and then like 5 songs in I was like "man, these guys are leaning HEAVY on KC and the Sunshine Band"

I went back over and looked down and was like "wait a minute".

I said "hey Dad, do you know what KC and the Sunshine Band looks like"

He shrugged and said "I dunno, probably like a bunch of burned out fags?"

He wasn't far off.
