Same. I'll still listen to all the classic live albums just cause they are part of my youth and they still sound great.

My favorite "live" album is probably Wednesday 13's Fuck It, We'll Do It Live. Love the rawness of this. Doesn't try to make the 100 or so people that were proobably there sound like 10,000.

I consider myself a Scorpions fan, and I just recently heard Tokyo Tapes for the first time. It's pretty god dammed great.

I dig the Scorps too, but Tokyo Tapes sounds dusty to me compared to World Wide Live.

Saxon - Eagle Has Landed (the sequels are all good too, but the original is just a fuckin classic)
Maiden - Live After Death
Ozzy - Tribute
Metallica - Live Shit (also the live shows they've released on the album deluxe box sets are pretty great)
Sabbath - Live at Last
Dio - Holy Diver Live (Evil or Divine also really good)
King Diamond - In Concert 1987 Abigail (Songs for the Dead also really good)

Since everyone mentions Tribute, I'm gonna throw in Speak of the Devil. The amount of energy on that album is amazing. Seems as if Ozzy snorted a few bags of coke.

These are also great...except for the Holy Diver Live album, he was sick that day I think, it's the weakest of his live albums in my book.

I also forgot about Halford's Live Insurrection, once again that's Halford in the studio but the final product is kickass and Metal Mike shreds all over it. Priest could have totally called him up instead of using Andy Snip.

Before I scrolled down, I knew Psycho would have me covered on Another Lesson in Violence, so here's another vote.. Sounds absolutely phenomenal, especially for 1995, which is how Andy Sneap got on my radar.

For thrash, the Seattle show from Metallica's Live Shit: Binge and Purge always has to be mentioned.

Also a huge fan of Beast in the East.

I'm not sure if this counts, because even though you'd call it "hair metal" or "glam metal" it's really just good ol' rock and roll, but Britny Fox - Live at Froggy's is SUPER under the radar and very very good.

Dio - Last in Live is also underrated as is the whole Tracy G era of Dio, IMO.

Metal or not, MiJ may be the best live album ever.

I've never really listened to those TG-Dio albums aside from the live ones, which I do enjoy.

His solos are a bit weird though, not bad, but a bit strange. I remember reading that he left the band because Dio wanted to have Craig Goldy come back as a 2nd guitarist, who would handle ALL of the guitar solos, and TG wasn't having that haha

Yeah, that's true. I was pretty active in the Dio fan club back then and there was always that perception that Tracy's rhythm playing/riffing was killer but his lead playing was whack.

I remember when the Goldy news filtered into the group and everyone was all excited and then kind of WTF when Tracy didn't want to do it. Kind of a strange call on his part, IMO., but it's his choice.

It would've been neat to hear, anyway.
