Jon Bon Jovi - My Life in Albums

Post by gtrjay »

Pretty cool run down of him going through each album with a story behind each album and timeline.

Most of us on here know these but still a fun watch.

I watched until Keep The Faith.
Honestly, who gives a crap after that.

And his voice is shot just talking.

“He doesn’t want to come back to the band”.

I think he does.

Where is Richie anyway? Everybody is promoting the documentary but him, a short clip of his new song leaked yesterday but where is he?

Earlier this year all he could talk about a reunion, now silence … he did go to Jon’s house and watch part of the documentary.

His voice is shot just talking, he can’t tour without Richie or backing tapes.

I already know what he's going to say before I click...

The early stuff will be "we were kids trying to figure things out".

He'll undersell his best albums (Slippery/NJ) and associate them with the "excess of the time."

He'll overrate all the recent albums.

His U2/Springsteen wannabe stuff will be "finally finding a voice" and some mumblings about "meaning" and "authenticity."

I was looking forward to the Hulu documentary, then this People magazine story came across my feed this morning:
https://people.com/jon-bon-jovi-recalls ... ve-8637420

He admits his voice went to shit, but after vocal surgery, he's back and "hitting notes he hasn’t hit since he was a kid."

I think I'm good.

My guess would be that Richie wants to come back and do some shows. Jon doesn't trust that he's sober enough to do that.

Yes for sure.
We all rag on bands we love or loved here. Some deserve it more than others (Blotzer). But it is fun to see a successful band we all probably liked at one point even briefly celebrate 40 years and at the biggest level of any sludge band (Rolling Stones aside). As Jon said in the clip “grunge hit and a lot of our peers were out of business”

Even Springsteen did that with Nils Lofgrin when Little Steven came back, so it'll be just like his idol.

Speaking of Bon Jovi, why aren't they doing stadium type tours like Def Leppard? The last few years Def Leppard has been hitting the baseball stadiums pretty hard, I have to think Bon Jovi is on that level too. And I know Jon can barely sing at this point, but that has never stopped Vince from touring.

Def Leppard has to be packaged with other polpular bands to play stadiums.

Bon Jovi doesn't need to be packaged to sell out arenas at a premium rate. I am sure bon Jovi could play stadiums with journey as well. But they probably make more headlining arena shows instead of co-headlining stadium shows.
