The champion music video for pointy guitars

Post by BernieTaupson »

Nancy’s is bad enough but what the fuck even are the two guitars the guys have? They’re not even shaped like guitars.

Nancy sung lead vocals? What happened in this era, did they tell Ann she was too fat for the 80s, they could let her sing backups, and stretch her out in some solo frames?

It's one of those videos where the visuals don't connect at all with the song.

To quote form imdb:

"Nancy Wilson was born in San Francisco, California and joined her sister Ann Wilson in the Seattle, Washington based hard rock-band Heart in the early-seventies. She sang lead vocals on the number one-hit "These Dreams" and on the top-twenty hit "Stranded"."

I think Nancy sang Treat Me Well off Little Queen too didn’t she? What others did she sing I’m missing?

it's well known that Ann Wilson's weight was a problem for videos on MTV back then. So the video producers "hid her" . Most of the songs she was in back then, including this one had her standing behind something, or just a head shot, or immersed in fog and a long shot to hide her size. Wasn't obvious then but is now.

Loved those heart albums. Yea, Ann was a basket case over her weight. I recall Nancy having to calm her down off panic attacks onstage.

Hasn’t Ann lost a lot of the weight now?

Another one was Paula Abdul. I recall a couple of videos where she was ‘stretched’.

Also, the Blues Travelers band scripted cut off out of the video of their breakthrough hit ‘Run Around’.
I believe the label has some skinny band members lip synch mainly because of Poppers weight.

And now Popper is skinny.

A bunch of them. “Two” from one of the modern era albums is pretty good.

Treat Me Well from Little Queen. Nada One from D+B. Raised On You from Bebe Le Strange. Love Mistake on Passionworks. Most albums have at least one. She does five on Jupiter’s Darling.

Ok thanks. I lost interest after Bébé Le Strange. Her and Ann’s voices are quite similar.

Two thoughts:

1. The silver MyPillow guitar was a nice touch.

2. Paul Stanley studied and copied Nancy Wilson's stage moves.

I reckon all songs are folk songs. I ain't never heard no horses singing any.

Gene too. Those three Crazy Nights videos they did are so similar to the Heart videos, Gene is copying Nancy‘a kicks. Same producer too, they weee trying to copy their reinvention.
