Agreed and always felt this way. I heard Stay Hungry first but aside from the singles, I did not think it was a great album. From top to bottom, just about every song on YCSRNR is a classic.

To me, those first three TS albums are all great.
With Come Out and Play they lost me, not because it was necessarily such a bad album compared to the previous ones, but because it was a generic heavy metal album.
What set those first three albums (and even more the live shows) apart was the anger, the pissed off-ness, With Come Out and Play that anger wasn't there anymore, it was just a heavy metal album with a stupid lead off single.

That's how I would describe Stay Hungry. WNGTI was just too happy and lightweight and the rest of the album was quite generic HM. Maybe The Beast and Burn In Hell have some of that "anger" but that's about it.

Yeah, maybe you're right.
My opinion might be skewed because to promote the release of the album Dee did an interview on a national radio show and started dropping f-bombs left and right and then got into an argument with an audience member telling him he couldn't fuck a pregnant goldfish or something. I think the guy in the audience called Dee gay or something.
It made a big impression on 14 year old me!
